It's been a rough few days, unfortunately we have lost the chocolate boy too π
Unfortunately Cam was having a little tough time being a mama for the first time..so for precautions the remaining 4 puppies are with a surrogate mother and have happily accepted them. I will continue sending updates on the puppy's developments and once they are a little bit bigger and starting on mush they will come home so Mama Cam can continue taking care of her babies.

There's a storm a' brewin'!
10.5 month old Storm is taking applications, she's a hard driven little lady taking on water retrieves full force and looks to be a great little marking dog on land too. Storm is still a work in progress with training, she's a little behind but is an easy pup to work with...very sweet and lovable and wants to learn! She does have a little stranger danger so I'm slowly introducing her to new places and people but soon realizes those strangers are fun because they throw those fun bumpers for her to fetch. She is still having a few accidents in her kennel here and there but has never had an accident in the house. I'll post more videos in the comments as this business page only allows me to post one video at a time π https://www.firelightretrievers.com/puppy-questionnaire.html
Quigley took a long road trip and met his new family over the weekend, he took to them very quickly π₯° He'll be a spoiled boy with so many fun activities to do...he'll be trained mainly to hunt moose antlers and waterfowl, probably dock jumping too with DDWW.

Stormy fetching some short fun puppy bumpers at Buckeye Retriever Club.
Storm is also taking applications at this time. She's 10 months old, super affectionate but not soft, crate trained, & working on basic obedience. She's a little cautious at first with new surroundings but soon relaxes. Please email me at: [email protected]

Best wishes and luck to my boy Jareth on your new adventure and training! Jareth is a special boy with an amazing temperament, sweet disposition, and handler focused. I was keeping him back as a started shed dog but he had another calling, he will be trained as a mobility support dog. He took a long trip to Illinois and when meeting his person, Linda. He perked right up as soon as he got out of the truck and she stepped out the door. Jareth eagerly greeted her and had the biggest wiggly whirly helicopter-butt tail ever.. he knew he belonged with her at that moment.
I'm gonna miss this sweet boy but I know he'll be helping someone and is in great hands.

I have a passion for the Labrador Retriever and their purpose, a sporting gundog and loyal loving companion in the field and in the home. Being an avid duck hunter with my dad when I was little and then moving as I attended college I started looking for the right breed of dog and decided the Labrador was the right choice for me. I have been involved with the Labrador breed for over 20 yrs now and just started my breeding program in 2017.
I was looking at getting a cream colored yellow and during my search saw my first fox red shade. I immediately loved the coloring as she would blend in the brush and not stand out and found and brought home my first Labrador puppy, Sandy May born March 17, 2000. She was a mismark but knew nothing of that when I got her and as a few year past by I reasered more about their ancestors & history: she was marked like the St. John's Water Dog. When she was at age of 14 I got another pup, Peanut then after few months later Sandy Mayβs breast cancer took over and had to make that dreaded decision. After Sandy past I didn't go back out duck hunting for a while and then decided to take and enter Peanut into hunt tests.
Since getting Sandy & Peanut and leaning their history, I have become very partial to the darker shades of Yellow and Fox Red for my breeding program. Though I breed for the shade, I do not breed just for that alone, I wish is to help bring back that classic dark shade seen in the early years of the breed while contributing to the Labradors genetic health, excellent temperaments, soundness, athleticness of a gundog, and their loyal companionship. So when you hear about Fox Red Labradors they are not a newer color, they are a shade of yellow and are well documented in the 1800βs, itβs said to be the original shade of yellow called βgoldenβ in that time. Also note the Fox Red does not carry the same genetics as the dilutes (silver) and should not be compared as such. I do not and will not breed dilutes or to dilute lines know as silver, charcoal, or champagne and hope others respect my lines and my decision to breed to Black, Yellow, and Chocolate that are clear of the dilute gene.
My dogs Shed Hunt, compete in Shed Hunt Tests, hunt ducks/geese/pheasant, attend AKC & UKC Hunt Tests, compete in Dock Diving sports, and FastCats. We are members of the Buckeye Retriever Club, North American Diving Dogs Association, & Buckeye DockDogs.

Peanut has a very sweet kind happy temperament. She is calm, has a high drive but very manageable on/off switch from the field to home, eager to please, & focus with good making abilities. She has a great nose for pheasant, antlers and ducks. Peanut earned her WSD 2019 and earned her first Champion class pass at the 2019 UKC ESDS National Championships. She also earned her NASHDA Junior Shed Hunter (JRSHTR) and is working towards her NASHDA Senior Shed Hunter (SRSHTR, 1 more pass for title). Peanut has also qualified to compete the NASHDA World Championships 4 yrs in a row. I started hunt test training when she was a bit older in after we just βwinged itβ at our first event with AKC. Aries is Peanuts daughter and has an amazingly sweet gentle and kind temperament. Very high prey drive with a very manageable on/off switch from the field to in the home. She is very eager and wanting to please her people, quick learner, and has great focus, great nose & sent skills, and a good memory (making training a pain using the same grounds twice). Aries finished her AKC STAR Puppy Program at 16 weeks and attended her first NASHDA Hunt Test at 10 months old, she earned her first 2 Junior passes then. Aries has also earned her WSD with the UKC Elite Shed Dog Series, she had only a week and a half crash course in shed hunting before she entered her 1st test. Aries earned her DS (dock senior) title with AKC NADD at 1 yr old with a PB of 19β.
