Shout out to Pet Pack Rescue Initiative for doing a food drive for our community! Alyssa Emanuelson (Peoria area) and Nikki Fauber Ormsby (south suburban area) are the contact people for this! Love them both! They have taken many dogs from streator into rescue or helped with transporting and now helping with this, we appreciate you!!!

Hey pack! It’s Alyssa!

In times of need, I’ve seen this community come together. Many of us have survived devastating storms, and know how debilitating they can be to our community. Last week a portion of Streator, Illinois was devastated by a tornado. For those of you that went through this in 2013 in the washington tornado you know how significant the impact was on your life. The small community of Streator is now facing this as well. Many of those in the homes on Carriage Lane do not have insurance and they are navigating trying to hold it all together.

I moved to Peoria in 2010, but originally I hail from Ottawa, about 10 to 15 minutes from where the storms hit. I’ve known the animal control officer in Streator for many years. Amy Ragusa is a fantastic human being. We’ve pulled dogs from her in the past and she goes above and beyond to help her community and more ways than one. I asked her how we could help her and she sent me a short list of items that they need. She said people often help in the immediate crisis, but her stockpile is very low. I told her I can’t promise her that we’ll be able to supply much but that we would try. I’m asking members of the pack, members of the Greater Peoria community to consider donating items on the wish list for those they were impacted by the tornadoes in Streator. We will collect donations from now until next Saturday with the intention of delivering them the week of June 21.

Items can be dropped off at 8703 N. University suite F Peoria, IL in our dropbox at your convenience this week. There is also a number on the flyer to text if you need several items picked up. Food, leashes, and collars, and cat litter are most needed. They are supplied on other items at this time.

If you live out of the area, but are in the south suburbs or the Joliet/Morris/Coal City/Minooka area there is a number to text for that as well! Nikki is able to help pick up items that way.

💔🐾 Storm Relief Donations Needed for Families & Pets 🐾💔

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating storms and tornadoes that moved through our area. ❤️

While we are incredibly grateful that everyone at the shelter is safe and doing well, we know many families, pets, and livestock in surrounding communities were not as fortunate.

We want to do what we can to help.

Starting immediately, we will be collecting donations for families and animals impacted by the storms. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, and we will work to get them to those who need them most.

Items we are especially looking for include: 🐶 Dog & cat food
🐱 Cat litter
🦮 Leashes, collars, lead ropes & harnesses
🥣 Food and water bowls
🛏️ Pet beds, blankets & towels
🧹 Cleaning supplies
💧 Bottled water
🥫 Non-perishable food items
🧻 Toiletries and household essentials
Other donations are welcome as needs continue to develop.

If you or someone you know has been affected by these storms and needs assistance for their pets, please do not hesitate to reach out. We may not have all the answers, but we will do everything we can to help connect people and animals with available resources and support.

During difficult times like these, communities come together. Let's do our part to help our neighbors, both two-legged and four-legged, get through the days ahead. ❤️🐾

Update the grey and white cat was found hiding in a closet!!! The Al grey is still missing

my family was hit by the tornado yesterday and we are searching for these two still.
unable to find them in the rubble 😕
hoping they got out
