ROSS FIRE UPDATE — AUGUST 28
Although the Ross Fire remains active, crews successfully held it within its previous footprint and continue to improve containment lines. Current firefighting efforts are focused farther north, near the north side of Possum Kingdom Lake, where crews are working to prevent additional growth toward the lake and surrounding communities.
At this time, there is very little danger to the Ranger Ridge community. We will continue monitoring conditions closely and keep our firefighting equipment ready as a precaution.
Evacuation notices for Palo Pinto County have been lifted, and there are currently no evacuations in Jack County. Highway 16 north of FM 2353 has reopened; however, additional closures remain in the affected area, and travel conditions may change.
Hot and dry weather will continue over the next several days, so we encourage everyone to remain cautious and follow updates from local authorities.
We are grateful to the firefighters, emergency personnel, and support crews working tirelessly to protect our surrounding communities.
Information based on the August 28 update from Regional Fire Command.
