At 9 weeks old this big boy weighted in at almost 12lbs. His favorite treat is Milkbones and he loves his teething keys!

Did you know that the average dog is being overfed by 54,000 calories a year? 👀

Sometimes working on your pet’s weight can be as simple as restricting treats or refraining from giving those table scraps. The calories add up quickly!

A couple tips to decrease calories:

- Look on your pet’s food bag and feed them the correct amount according to their IDEAL weight (not their current weight)

- When you scoop out your pet’s food, give the cup a little shake to eliminate the “dome” of food on top (it should be flat or level)

- Offer low calorie treats like a raw baby carrot or break the treats in half

- Make sure those human babies aren’t sneaking their snacks to those fur babies

- When decreasing your pet’s food, do it by 10-15% increments and not all at once

Molly is an 11 week old German short-hair pointer who loves PINK 🩷 We have the joy of watching her grow as she visits every few weeks for her vaccine boosters.

A puppy’s immune system is still developing, and the antibodies they receive from their mother can interfere with the effectiveness of their vaccines which is why it’s important to follow the vaccine schedule laid out by our veterinarians. We want to keep your puppy healthy and happy so they’re in tip-top shape for playtime and naps 🤗

Don’t let this girl fool you - she may be named California and look fabulous, but she came from humble beginnings.

Sweet Cali-girl started off on the streets of Kuwait before being rescued. Now she visits ACORN Veterinary Centers to discuss GI health and litter box preferences ❤️

We love the rags to riches stories. The rescued and adopted pets who achieve their happily ever after in loving homes.

Show some love to our brown eyed girl 😍

Rosie came in for her routine vaccines and received a recommendation to join our weight loss challenge this summer.

We think she’s as cute as can be, but we want to see the healthiest version of her which would be a few pounds less! As she gets older, losing weight can give her more energy and decrease the chance of arthritis and joint issues.

Kylo finds him on the chubbier side of the body condition score chart, but we are excited to be launching a new weight loss challenge in partnership with Hill’s. If your pet is overweight, our team can determine an ideal weight and prescribe the appropriate weight loss diet to help work toward their goal. As your pet reaches their weight loss goals, they may be eligible for free food from Hill’s!
