The hours we have spent training together early mornings and late nights, all for the love of the dog.
What Keeps Us Coming Back
As we all know, training a versatile hunting dog to its full potential requires patience, persistence, and a deep understanding of both the dog and the game. But whether you’re a new member or a seasoned veteran, we also know no one truly trains their dog alone. . .
It happens in the little things: someone releasing birds so you can run a track; a friend offering a thoughtful tip after a training day; a chapter member showing up with coffee at sunrise; or a veteran handler spending extra time to help a newcomer get through a difficult phase.
These moments, repeated over weeks and months, create a culture of generosity and shared purpose that elevates everyone involved. This in many ways defines the essence of NAVHDA.
NAVHDA’s structure encourages this spirit. Training days, test weekends, and chapter meetings all offer opportunities for connection and collaboration. The friendships formed during these times often extend beyond them, building bonds that endure far past any test day. For many members, the memories of a shared training season are more lasting and meaningful than any prize or ribbon. . .
