My son found this gal crawling on him yesterday. She is a Lone Star tick. These ticks are fast becoming the prevalent type in our area. Beside the ick factor, Lone Star ticks can potentially cause Alpha gal syndrome in people. Alpha gal syndrome actually causes a person to become allergic to red meat so bye bye steak, hamburgers etc. Check yourself every 3-4 hours for ticks if you’re working outside and treat your pets regularly with Nexgard or Frontline to reduce potential exposure.

New requirements for Coggins- If you need a last minute test, call us! Central Vet maintains a federal Coggins lab so we are able to perform tests on site at our Stockton clinic. Results are provided in less than a week but stat tests can be scheduled with Dr. Craig for immediate results.
