The Micke Grove Zoological Society is a group of passionate volunteers, giving their time and efforts to support the Micke Grove Zoo in San Joaquin County. Established in 1978, The Society has raised and donated funds to San Joaquin County in excess of $2 million dollars to improve and upgrade the Zoo.

For the first time in its 96-year history, the Sacramento Zoo is home to a rhinoceros. Tuesday afternoon, a 28-year-old southern white rhino, J Gregory, barreled into the hearts of zoo staff.
