This big gentle giant and master of escape has received his official letter to remind us why he is still here in spite of his antics.

CH Jen-Mae-Ka Kids Ringmaster VVE 87

Ringo is one of a kind. And at 7 years old he is not slowing down. In fact, I think he is training the next generation of bucks on the property 🤔

We are excited for his recognition and for all his kids out there that now can officially be labeled as sired by a champion.

We only have a few Lamanchas left so would still entertain a good home for him. But until then he can just stay here with us to keep us on our toes.

We drove to Norman for the day. This means Dean gets to come!! Bri showed in the youth show and brought a “small to us” show string of 6 goats.

She was awarded senior showmanship champion at the start of the show.

Senior does did well.

Asteria won her class and was RCH Nubian. (Twixie got to show as they needed a fill in…and we all know Twixie loves to show!)

Juniors made us happy as well.

Asteria’s two daughters were first and third in their class. Then Athena was named junior champion.

Cherry Tree Moonchild came back out this year and was named RG Junior champion. Child was in the top ten at nationals last year so we are debating taking her again. This was her trial run.

The goats were exhausted. They aren’t used to such a whirlwind of a day. Katie met us for dinner and we were home before midnight.

Next stop….Grand Island Nebraska ❤️

The yearlings may have had an eventful morning as another tornado came across our county. All humans and animals seem fine. They may have to eat their way out back to the pasture.

Estimated 20-30 large trees down across our property and the rent house has its electric pole snapped off.

Thankful we are all safe and it’s all fixable. ❤️. But first COFFEE ☕️

Our week consisted of Bri teaching a dairy goat showmanship camp over 2 days at Goat Expo in Sedalia MO and then judging showmanship and a small fun show for the kids. She was a great teacher for the kids and made some new friends. May have convinced a few to make the trip to Nebraska. It was a great group of hard working kids.

Bri got a feel for the other side of the competition. She learned judging a fitting competition is harder than it looks, the showmanship judge isn’t trying to make you nervous but can understand why it happens, and telling a youth exhibitor they are last in a class is not really a fun part of the job.

She had been pondering her future with goats and ADGA and this weekend has convinced her to take the Pre TC this year as she explores some potentially new goals over the next few years.

I was just the driver this time and we had to take milkers with us so not a total vacay from the work of a show. It was definitely more mental exhaustion this trip but she had a blast and was very thankful for the opportunity

A different kind of goat trip this week. Details to follow…..❤️

Our home show is in the books. It was a great weekend. The weather almost cooperated. It’s always great showing with so much family around.

For herd highlights, the girls did well.

We showed a few juniors this time and they did well.

Cherry Tree Esteem, Cherry Tree Delilah and Cherry Tree Moonflower all received a restricted leg in the junior show.

CH (pending) Cherry Tree Moonshine was Best of Breed in 2 of 3 rings.

Cherry Tree Finally received her first milking leg.

Bri was named champion senior showman. And it was great having our other showman Kenzie with us again.

Youth show:
CH (p) Cherry Tree Moonshine BOB RG
Cherry Tree Asteria RCH Sr Nubian
Cherry Tree Moonflower RCH Jr RG
Cherry Tree Delilah CH Jr Nubian (scratched from remaining rings)

Open show:
Cherry Tree Finally CH/BOB Saanen Ring A, RCH Saanen Ring B
CH (p) Cherry Tree Moonshine BOB RG Ring A
Cherry Tree Moonflower CH Jr RG Ring A (scratched from remaining ring)
Cherry Esteem CH Jr Saanen Ring A & B (only 10 jrs showing)

All in all a good kind of exhausting weekend.

Next week is a whole new experience that we can’t wait to share with you later.

Day 2 was a bit more hectic but still loads of fun. Teamwork makes the dream work was the motto for this show. And those two make a great team.

Good placings for the most part. Esteem was RCH AOP in the Junior show and her baby sister won her class also.

Moonshine was CH/BOB in both rings with an official count making her a pending champion now. Excited to finally have the confidence to move her to the challenge class.

Left two goats with new owners. (Yay and thank you to our buyers for the confidence in our genetics). Have one very special addition we hope to share more info about at a later date. And picked up a beautiful alpine buck kid from a dear friend for the raffle next weekend.

A really good weekend. We left Kenzie in Stillwater but she’s coming to help again next weekend so that’s good news.
