This little guy spent the day with us getting his vaccines while his mom was at work. He had a clean bill of health and was clearly not bothered by clinic life. I think he was mad we woke him up 😂. Ferrets, dogs and cats are the 3 species required by law in Oklahoma to have rabies vaccines, so now Noodle won’t get his mom in trouble!

As many of you know the New World Screwworm has been in the news a lot lately with the 4 new cases in southern Texas and New Mexico. This is mostly a livestock disease but dogs and cats are at a low risk of getting this worm larvae. These larvae look very similar to the fly cuterebras that kittens, cats and some times dogs get.
How do you protect your pet? Keep any and all wounds clean and inspect them daily for fly eggs and maggots. The products Nexgard (dogs), Nexgard Plus (dogs) and Nexgard Combo (cats) have been labeled by the FDA for treatment of the NWS in dogs and cats. We recommend these products year round for heartworm, flea and tick control but now there is an extra added benefit to having your pets protected. If you have a current exam and/or heartworm test we can get your pets these products if they are not currently on them.

As many as you know it was graduation weekend. We are SO PROUD of these young women who are now Doctors! From baby techs at our clinic, to getting their stethoscopes, grey coat ceremonies, white coat ceremonies and now being hooded Danielle and Mallory have been with us a long time. We are so sad to see them go but they are going to go on and be amazing doctors! Congratulations ladies! All the pets are going to be so lucky to have you as their veterinarian!

We are going to have some amazing raffles again this year for Walk n Wag. Nexgard plus (all in one for dogs), Nexgard combo(topical all in one for cats) cytopoint (for allergies), Librela for Dogs, Solensia for cats (chronic pain management), proheart 12 (heartworm prevention for a year), a Dechra skin care backpack, a Virbac dental and dog basket, 3 senior blood profiles, and a Dog DNA test. We will also have tattoo gift certificates to raffle off as well as a homemade quilt out of Humane Society shirts, and OSU metal work. Can’t wait to see everyone June 6th from 9a-12p at the shelter. Registration is $30 and gets you access to all the raffles and an adorable T-shirt (you can purchase extra at $15 per shirt). It’s going to a pawsitvely good time! Humane Society of Stillwater gets 100% of all the raffle tickets and donations from out booth.
