This season of Kaleidoscope Poultry has not gone to plan, with mishaps and learning curves galore, numerous travel days with brooders full of babies, and putting my education and future first, however, I am as dedicated as ever to this flock of funky chickens.

I have been accepted into the Animal Science graduate program at Oklahoma State University’s Ferguson College of Agriculture. I will be pursuing a PhD in Animal science, starting this coming Monday!

While Dr. Carrera is loading, these birds will not be going anywhere. My passion for breeding still remains in the showrooms and in my barns, working to improve our breed and playing around with genetic combinations.

All this to say…. THANK YOU for following along on our journey, and for the community and the friendships that have been built within it.

Without my momma, Kaleidoscope Poultry would not be possible! Anyone who has met my mom, can attest to how great of a person she is! She has always encouraged me to follow my passions, and pushes me to be at my best!

She’s a dedicated flock tender to over 100 of these silkied creatures and she wouldn’t even touch a chicken until last year!!! She supports my goals and passions like they are her own. She wakes up at 3 am to meet me across the state for shows, and drives countless miles with me in search of new genetics. She listens to every big brained idea I have, and learns way more than she cares to about in-depth descriptive Animal Science.

Now my mom has never claimed be a chicken person, but she has gone to every show that I have ever attended. She’s gotten the brush and blow dryer into her hands, and even toe nail trims (apparently the feet are the scary part??). She checks the birds constantly, which allows me to learn more throughout the day. I will forever be grateful that God made her my mom.

Happy Mother’s Day to my super mom, and to all of you superwomen!🫶🏼

We are headed back to Oklahoma, after a whirlwind of 48 hours to Tennessee! We are loaded down with birds, and new additions to the farm from Happy peeps & sheep!!
It was wonderful to put a face to so many of my silkie peeps🫶🏽
