If your vibe is too many chickens, sweet animals, and flowers… you’ve landed in the right spot.

Thank you Adrianna | Documentary Lifestyle Photographer for capturing the chaos and making it look so sweet 🖤

Went to Liz Ott for buttercups, but all I got was inspected by Bridgette. The good news is these passed. Phew.

Tending to chickens is a trip. They are SO WEIRD. They love leftover spaghetti noodles (looks like worms) and old lettuce that’s gone slimy. They will come RUNNING when they hear the feed bag or suspect you have scraps for them. And they will lay eggs in the craziest spots.

Under the deck. In a potted plant. In the dog house. Under the workbench. In a tote with dried flowers. Nowhere is off limits. Not even the cat house on the front porch.

We’d been getting up to three eggs a day in the cat house. At some point we realized this gal wasn’t getting off the eggs. So we let her sit. Breaking a broody hen is almost impossible, and if you collect the eggs, you just prolong her broodiness. So we let this one stay.

We didn’t write down when it started. Just a guess. My estimate for her hatching date was tomorrow. Lo and behold!

So far there are SIX little babies. And the seventh egg is pipping. That’s a 100% hatch rate!!!! They’re all so cute and little and fluffy and mom is VERY protective.

No idea how we will relocate them tomorrow morning as their current location is a big jump down for little babies.
