🍳Friday = Fried Brain 🧠

Oh boy! Friday was a doozy! I attended another certification course all day; brushing up on geriatric grooming and all of the new products and techniques to help our senior pets be comfortable and successful in and out of the grooming salon. ❤️ We also covered tough subjects such as health issues and end of life care. There wasn't a dry eye in the room at the end of the seminar.

I also got to briefly meet Macie Pisa and her Wire Hair Fox Terrier! They placed 1st in the Wire Hair grooming competition.

Speaking of competitions, I stopped by the Sporting and Freestyle competitions to support our friend Reba from A Personal Touch Pet Salon and Marcie and Sam from Blossom Pet Salon !!! They did absolutely amazing work and it was great to see them displaying their skills.

The day wrapped up with some shopping and getting goodies to help pamper your pets!

🧪✨ Science + Grooming = Better Care ✨🧬

I hit the ground running yesterday at the All American Grooming Show hosted by Barkleigh ! I dove into a certification course all about understanding hair, skin, coat types, and the science behind what we do as groomers. From anatomy basics to coat-specific care, to troubleshooting skin issues and learning how our choices truly impact a pet’s health. It was really eye opening! 🐾

The best part? Real-world cases and techniques I can bring straight into the salon to make a real difference.

We’ll be closed Aug 20–25 while we attend the All American Grooming Show in Schaumburg, Illinois!

Our days will be packed with classes and demos to sharpen our grooming skills, connect with fellow groomers and industry leaders, and restock supplies (because who doesn’t love a little shopping?).

🎶 Musical Roulette 🎶

As a one-on-one groomer, I spend most of my day working solo — which means I also spend a lot of time with my headphones on. Music, audiobooks, podcasts… and of course, my own thoughts.

Also as someone with ADHD, finding the right audio input can be a whole adventure. Some days, I need high-energy pop punk to stay on track. Other days, it’s chill instrumental or a daring fantasy audiobook. My playlists are proudly polyjamourous (embracing a delightful mix of genres, moods, and vibes) and that variety helps scratch a very specific itch.

Whether you’re neurodivergent or just love having a soundtrack to your day, I’d love to hear what keeps your brain company 🧠

Lately, I’ve been feeling the weight of loss, and it’s given me a lot to reflect on, especially about the precious time we have with our pets. They’re with us for such a short chapter in our lives, yet they fill every page with love, joy, and loyalty. I'm going to be completely honest, I love my clients' pets as much as my own. How do you not get attached after seeing their cute faces on such a regular schedule?? 🥹

When I chose to create a one-on-one grooming experience, I did so with all pets in mind, but especially our seniors and those who need a little extra care. Geriatric pets hold such a special place in my heart. They’ve walked beside us through so many seasons, and they deserve patience, comfort, and respect in every moment, including their grooming sessions.

If you have a senior pet or one who needs a little more time and gentle handling, know that I would be honored to provide that care for them. Every pet deserves to feel safe and loved, no matter their age.

So hug your pets a little tighter today, savor the small things, and remember that these moments matter more than we realize. 💜

💤 Getting Pampered is Hard Work🐶

Sometimes a nap is required post grooming, especially for puppies. It's a lot of hard work being on their best behavior and being exposed to new experiences. 🏋️‍♀️

Larry did an amazing job for his grooming appointment and earned himself a well deserved snooze....however he couldn't quite wait until he made it home to catch some zzz 's🥱
