STAFF FAVORITE - meet Moo - sadly Moo was abandoned in a taped up cardboard Target box and left at our shelter gate at 10:20 pm in the pouring rain a couple weeks ago. Moo was taped up in the box with 3 additional kittens that looked exactly like these two (her kittens have all been adopted). We saw the security video of her "owner" take the box out of his trunk and leave it at the gate (if you know who might have done this - we have a video and would love to know!) the next morning the box was empty. After reviewing the video we saw the box being left at the gate at 10:20 pm it then started pouring rain and the box was weak enough for them to get out at 12:30 am. This cruel person left Moo and 3 kittens in a tiny taped up box. We immediately set out have a heart traps and thankfully we were able to get Moo and 3 kittens within 24 hours.... we have fox and fisher cats all over our neighborhood so they were very lucky we were able to save them. Moo is about 3-4 years old and super sweet. She LOVES to play with the other felines especially these cute kittens and can often be found snuggling with them. What a good mama!!! Moo is now spayed and updated on all her medical work. We have a soft spot for this female feline after her traumatic experience she deserves a loving lifelong home. Both Moo and the two kittens are still looking for their furever homes.... can't adopt? pls share their story and help us find these felines their new families 🥰🐾

We are only asking for an adoption fee of $575 to take them both home.
Meet Spudsey (Female brown and white) only 25 lbs and Frodo 30 lbs (male white) they are 4 years old Pomsky's (pomeranian/husky cross). They're a bonded pair that came in when their family was dealing with some medical issues. We are hoping we can find these two a home together. They were very well taken care of medically and have even been through basic obedience training. Our vet clinic has also had them updated on all their vaccines and they both just had a dental cleaning and polishing (that would likely cost several thousand dollars if done privately)... if you happen to be looking to add a beautiful bonded pair of Pomsky's to your family Spudsey and Frodo would love to meet you! They've lived with kids and have been great family members.... pls share if you can :)

YOUR JOB IS SAVING LIVES!!!! We are now hiring a Part Time Kennel cleaning / Adoption counselor (days would likely be Wednesday through Saturdays 8am-5pm) with flexibility to potentially help/cover other days of the week as needed.

Our kennel staff are the most important to our organization. You will be responsible for feeding/cleaning/medicating dogs/cats and are often the first line defense in noticing if any pet/s have any medical/behaviorial issues. Our kennel staff have a very important job just knowing the animals in our care and their quirks and mannerisms... we are looking for someone with animal experience (not just having or loving pets) - ideally someone whose worked in the animal field/vet clinic/hospital background, training/grooming/petcare etc. Someone who also understands animal behavior and how to read a pets body language is a bonus. Must be able to work with all animals from dogs/cats to rabbits/guinea pigs. Once trained in the kennel we would also include you in day to day adoptions/office work from answering phones to handling adoptions/surrenders. Social media experience is a bonus :)

We do not have a set schedule yet - however we do know the new position will need to be here Saturdays 8am-4pm. The weekly hours vary from Wednesday - Friday 8am-5pm and the flexibility to help cover Sunday-Tuesday if needed.

We are looking for someone with animal experience, great customer service skills, works well as a team and on their own. Follows instructions and learns fast. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Reliable transport and a positive outgoing attitude is a must :) Position is available to start immediately.

Please send resume and any questions to [email protected] - please no comments/posts to Facebook we don't often get to check social media daily....

Position Statement – A leader in our field, The Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling is a happy, clean, well run, family friendly animal shelter with progressive programs that improves lives by raising the bar for animal care in our shelter and community. We are an established organization committed to placing animals in caring homes through innovative programs and placement services.

At the Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling we share a core belief that we will only help animals by working proactively and compassionately with people. Reflected in all of our programs and services is our belief that people and animals are inherently good. We strive to create a judgment-free and caring environment for all community members seeking our services, whether they are surrendering a pet, adopting or utilizing our low-cost services. This philosophy is shared with all employees and volunteers. We have a streamlined adoption process and have a more positive way of connecting people and animals. There are no lengthy applications and screening processes. Instead, we want to engage in conversation with prospective adopters. If we start from a perspective that people are coming to us with the best intentions, we will have a much better success rate of finding life-long matches.
