Blue is an adorable yorkie, poodle mix. He has a beautiful mostly wire coat so today he received a hand stripping session. Hand stripping is a service exclusive to wire coated breeds; it retains the harsh coat texture and more vibrant, brighter genetic coloring. Terriers that are consistently clipper cut instead of stripped typically have a coat that turns dull and fuzzy, as well as increasing the chances of skin issues, such as canine acne and clogged pores.
Hand stripping has many pros! These include:
*Coat color retention
*Coat texture retention
*Wire coats repel dirt, water and environmental elements such as burrs
*Wire coats don't mat and require less brush care than a soft coat
*Maintains coat AND skin health
