Sequestrums are pieces of dead bone that can pop up after an injury or infection, and they like to stick around. These pieces often precent wounds from healing, and usually require surgical removal!

Last week Dr. Felipe removed this sequestrum from a young horse in record time! Using X-Ray imaging before, during and after makes these surguries incredibily fast and easy on the horse and our team!

Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP) might be a by-product of PRP but donโ€™t overlook its value!

Derived from your horseโ€™s own blood, PPP contains fewer platelets but still plays an important role in equine medicine. Itโ€™s commonly used alongside PRP in joint therapies, including systems like Pro-Stride, and has shown benefits in managing inflammation and supporting healing in soft tissues.

Beyond musculoskeletal applications, PPP has also shown value in equine reproduction, particularly in the management of persistent breeding-induced endometritis (PBIE), where intrauterine plasma therapy may help reduce inflammation and improve the uterine environment.

Dr. Felipe doesn't play around when it comes to tooth extractions! This young horse had two fractured molars, and we chose to do them each indiviually. These procedures can be time consuming and require multiple tools and radiographs to ensure all pieces are removed!

Ultrasound-guided injections are used in many areas of equine medicine including sacroiliac (SI) joints, necks, stifles, and even tendons and ligaments. This technique allows for precise placement of therapies exactly where theyโ€™re needed most.

In this case, Dr. Felipe is treating both the inner and outer compartments of both stifles with PRP and PPP for a horse dealing with long-term lameness. Ultrasound guidance is especially important for the outer stifle compartments, ensuring accurate delivery of the regenerative medicine into the target structures.
