Ryder. Sweet boy. VERY independent - and a challenge at times! But I love that about this job. Every dog is unique and every dog brings a different personality to the table. And it’s what makes each dog who they are. Many times what we are dealing with is genetics. This breed mix of his is one that is designed to make independent decisions. Which can be challenging in a pet household. Because he wants to be the leader. In the beginning, he would grab a leash with both front feet and try to pull it away from you. he would jump on you, refused to get in a vehicle, and forget about coming when called - That wasn’t even in his personal list of options. By the end of his training, he would turn and come running on a dime when you called him, he would heel off leash without even being told to, he would jump up into the truck, was calm around people without jumping on them, and he was still just as happy as he could be. He simply needed a clear understanding of what was expected, and needed leadership, and he needed to see value in those things. As all dogs do. He was such a fun dog to work with. And I really bonded with him while he was here. I love watching things come together for a dog. Ryder is one who can make calculated very detailed decisions. And as he started to figure out that his decision-making in a cooperative manner with his owner could be so much fun, he became just a different dog altogether. Still has his same personality, but his decision-making now is based on how can he be a better teammate to his owner.. and he WANTS to please now I’m excited to hear about his adventures ahead. He was a lot of fun. Definitely miss having him here. But I’m so happy for both Ryder and his owner, and the new life they have together for the many years ahead! Hailey thank you so much for trusting me with him. Please reach out anytime I can help you with anything.
