This page is designed for the purpose of connecting with my fellow horse friends who are interested in following my endeavors in the equine industry. I am not officially training right now but could be considered a working student under Sarah Orloff with Still Waters Equitation. She helps me with mine and I help her by doing the basic stuff like helping getting horses fit and in shape and working

the greener horses. We clinic together and I take lessons from her. My passion is endurance riding but I actively train in classical dressage when I can’t get out on the trail. My specialty is getting horses trail broke and instilling confidence and work ethic.

Dental day at the barn today! Khat got her teeth and annual shots and Charm and Norah got their shots.

For those who don’t understand what is happening in the photos: Khat is sedated and they use a contraption to hold the mouth open while they grind down and smooth out their teeth. Horses will often unevenly wear their teeth down creating sharp points or uneven bites which in turn can cause many other issues. They are all a little different in their needs but generally 1-1.5 years they have to get done.

Planning to do a bit more with Norah this winter. She turned 1 in May of this year so still VERY much a baby so nothing strenuous but it’s important to teach them body language and boundaries and she needs to do all the basics like lead, stand, pick up feet and move over/out of the way when you ask and to not be pushy and be respectful. She does most of this stuff to some degree already but there is room for improvement. She can be a pushy sassy little thing prone to dramatics.

Little miss Norah isn’t so little anymore! I didn’t stick her but she’s definitely feeling more like a horse than a baby.

Hoping to start doing a bit more with her over this winter. She’s just itching for something to do.

Knapstrupper X Arabian cross.
