🚨🚨🚨 EMERGENCY CASE 🚨🚨🚨
I am writing this post with my stomach in knots and a lump in my throat this morning. This is absolutely not at all how I wanted to introduce our up and coming Ambassador mustang but last night I received some troubling news and his condition seems to be deteriorating after receiving another update around midnight.
Before I go into details let me formally introduce to you our boy Eastwood (known as Quisp on the range of South Steens Oregon). Eastwood has been with Lydia Dedera’s Horse Training who is the absolute best trainer and she has been preparing him for his big role as ambassador mustang for our organization. Our hope is for Eastwood to be a partner with us and help bring people closer to mustangs and learn about them, their versatility, their companionship, and their hardiness. We want to help people fall in love with them and encourage them to be a voice for all mustangs both on and off the range. Our goal is create some kids programs around Eastwood and really cater him to that demographic because we feel like the big change is in the hands of our youth.
However Eastwood seems to be heading into a situation with a very very guarded prognosis which can easily turn into an emergency rather quickly. The vet has been out and has checked him, treated him, and is monitoring him closely but we don’t have a clear diagnosis yet. Our initial concern was colic or impaction but those are still not clear and not ruled out yet but vet is leaning more towards a virus. He is in the best hands and I know that these ladies are doing absolutely everything possible for him.
Now we are stuck making some extremely hard decisions on what the next step forward is. The vet is recommending taking him to OSU for further evaluation which could lead to full blown hospitalization. As much as I want to say yes to this, this scenario will likely cost thousands of dollars a day and we literally just do not have that at the moment. Donations have been down to one of the lowest points in a long time and we are assuming that’s based off of the economy and the crazy high gas prices that are choking everyone at the moment.
The other option is to keep him home and monitor him for changes which have happened overnight with developing diarrhea but the vet is concerned if we wait too long to figure this out then any attempt at treatment may not be successful and we could lose him. Obviously if it gets to a certain point and don’t get him treated then euthanasia will be the only option and we don’t want to be left with that as our only option for him.
I hate asking for donations especially when they have been so low and nobody can donate but your donation of $5, $10, $20 or $100 could literally mean being able to choose hospitalization for him which could very much mean saving his life or vice versa.
We are feeling very stuck at the moment on how to proceed for this big guy. We want to give him the best chance possible but it literally is going to take all of us and a few miracles to make it possible especially if he ends up going to OSU for higher level care and treatment.
Here are ways you can donate to help us help Eastwood and get him the care that he needs and deserves:

Please any donation amount adds up to make a difference for Eastwood and how we can proceed forward with him. These unexpected events leave us scrambling for assistance and leave us asking why these things happen in the first place. I will continue to keep you all updated on Eastwood throughout the day but there are some really hard decisions coming and I have this feeling in my stomach that the time to make those decisions is not far off.
