We are gearing up for a fun, local event this weekend! The Augusta Expo Center in Fishersville is hosting the annual Virginia Adventure Cluster Dog Show Thursday June 4th-Sunday June 7th. In addition to the conformation show, North American Diving Dogs will have a mobile dock in town. If you've ever been interested in watching these water-loving dogs do their thing, now is your chance! And for those with young, healthy, and adventurous dogs, they will be offering Try-It jumps throughout the day to see if your pup would enjoy dock diving too!
Try-It's will be offered, as time/space allows, Thursday-Saturday 9a-4p and Sunday 9a-2p for $15
Parking for the event is $5 per vehicle.
We hope to see you at the dock and are wishing all of our Augusta K9 competitors the best of luck this weekend!

Meet Our Dog of the Month: Emmy! 💙🐾

We are so excited to celebrate Emmy, our absolute sweetheart.

This wonderful 11-year-old Lab mix has been a beloved member of our swim family for over 4 years now. Back in 2024, she had a CCL injury and came to see us for her post-operative rehab. Once she healed, she was beyond happy to return to her favorite place: the pool!

We love keeping Emmy happy, healthy, and active in her golden years. When we asked her owners what Emmy’s absolute, non-negotiable favorite activity is, the answer was instant: Coming here for her swim time! 🤍🤍

We love you, Emmy! Keep shining and splashing! 💦✨

🐾 May Highlights at Augusta Canine Center 🐾

May was filled with hard work, progress, and continued success for so many of our rehab clients and swim dogs. Throughout the month, we focused on helping dogs improve strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and overall quality of life through individualized rehabilitation and wellness programs.

From underwater treadmill therapy and therapeutic exercise, to massage, swimming, and dock diving practice, it’s been rewarding to watch each dog build confidence and make meaningful progress at their own pace.

We’re grateful to our clients for trusting us to be part of their dogs’ care and wellness journey. Thank you for another great month — we look forward to continuing that progress into June.

🐾 FAQ Friday: How Often Should My Dog Do Hydrotherapy? 🐾

Every dog is different! 💦 The right hydrotherapy schedule depends on your dog’s condition, goals, age, and activity level.

Whether your pup thrives on weekly sessions, bi-weekly visits, or a once-a-month conditioning schedule, every bit of water therapy makes a difference for their mobility and joint health!

Our team creates personalized plans designed to help your pup feel their best while avoiding overdoing it. 💙

Thinking about hydrotherapy or fitness for your dog? Send this to a friend who wants to keep their pup moving comfortably! 🐾

Sometimes life brings difficult circumstances, and with heavy hearts, a family has to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome a beloved pet. This decision is being made out of love and the hope of finding the very best future possible for this sweet dog. 💙

Everybody, meet Chino 🐾
He currently lives just outside of Richmond.

Here is what his dad has to say about him:

"Chino is a 1-year-old Mastiff mix (Dogo Argentino mom / Presa Canario dad) sitting around 80 pounds of pure enthusiasm. Mentally, he’s still very much a puppy and fully believes he’s a lap dog despite all evidence to the contrary.

He’s fully crate trained, mostly house trained, and went through obedience training around 6 months old. He still retains a lot of it, but he’d benefit from someone willing to stay consistent with training and structure.

He currently lives with a Yorkie, a senior dog, and 3 cats without issues, but he would probably do best as the only dog in the home. He loves other dogs and would absolutely thrive with play dates and socialization, but he would NOT do well living with another dominant/alpha-type dog.

His favorite things on earth are fetch and tug toys. If you throw the ball 500 times, he’ll bring it back 501. If you’ve got a decent throwing arm and don’t mind a giant shadow following you around the house, he’s your guy.

He is still intact but will be neutered before going to his new home. He is also up to date on vaccines but probably has some coming up soon.

I’m not looking to hand him off to just anybody. He deserves a solid home with someone who understands large breeds, has patience for a giant puppy, and wants a loyal best friend/bodyguard that occasionally forgets he weighs 80 pounds.

If you think you’d be a good fit, message me at 804-650-1955"

Did you know maintaining a healthy weight can affect your dog’s rehabilitation journey? Small changes can help reduce pain, improve movement, and make a big difference over time. 🐾

Extra weight can place additional strain on joints, muscles, and healing tissues — especially for dogs recovering from surgery or managing arthritis. Combining rehabilitation therapy with healthy weight management can improve comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life. 💙

🐾 Weekend Reminder: Don’t Forget the Stretchies! 🐾

Just like us, dogs benefit from gentle stretching to help keep their muscles loose, joints comfortable, and bodies moving their best. 💙

This weekend, take a few minutes to give your pup some gentle stretches before a walk, swim, or play session — they’ll thank you with extra tail wags!

🎥 Check out our quick demo for a couple of easy stretches you can try at home.
