Welcome! My name is Mary Kate, I turned 40 recently, and I adore animals 😍! I have 25+ years in animal care experience, which includes senior and special needs cats and dogs. I love the giant breeds and got most of my senior and special needs experience with my own Great Dane that passed at almost 13yrs old.
I've also recently expanded into farm sitting. Since September 2024 I've consistently worked multiple shifts per week as a stable hand Foxy Filly Farm & Salon with Annie Eagle as my teacher and helped care for at one point 13 horses and 3 donkeys. My tasks included bringing in and turning out horses, feeding, mucking, grooming, grain and supplement prep, and many other standard barn and horse chores. I even started leasing and riding a horse!
My pet philosophy is to keep their world as normal as possible. You leaving them is already a stressful event for them, so I believe that by bringing me into the home it keeps the stress to the absolute minimum. I ask that all my clients prepare a "Day In The Life of _______" for me that I can refer to if necessary.
For any potential new clients, I like to do a meet and greet so that I can see how your pets will react to me. Then I will come in the night before my first job with you to shadow you while you do your feeding and bedtime routine (this is at zero cost to you). Plus, I've found it's easier on the pets for me to already be there when you leave that first time.
I am comfortable with and have experience in administering medications and changing wound bandages as well.
While I'm based in the Catawba NC area, I have clients as far as Charleston, SC and up to Sparta, NC so I'm definitely open to travel. Any location more that 60 miles from Catawba will require a 2 night minimum.
