Tony Montana update 🖤
Tony has been enjoying a few new freedoms lately, including meeting some new friends (since he’s not in a strict isolation).
While we were cleaning cages recently, he spent some time hanging out with a group of kittens. We can't say he was particularly impressed by their energy levels, but he tolerated them well enough.
He's also started helping around the Adoption Center. By "helping," we mean climbing into the dryer while we were trying to do laundry.
It's funny how exciting these little moments are.
We love watching him do all the normal, sometimes mildly inconvenient things that cats do. Honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way. 🖤

🚨 This Saturday's Adoption Event is an Important One for Us 🚨

Kitten season is here, and we have more tiny kittens than we know what to do with. Right now, we're hoping you'll help us make room by giving some of our incredible adult cats a chance!

This adoption event will feature many of our long-term residents... the cats who have watched others come and go while they continue waiting for someone to choose them🥹. They're wonderful cats, but adult cats often get overlooked when kitten season arrives.
And we have some very special guests joining us:

🐾 Fin: our FIP survivor who beat the odds and is thriving (And THIS COMMUNITY helped to save).

🐾 Durango: our boot-wearing warrior whose severe leg wound took months of treatment, bandage changes, and determination to heal.
You've followed Fin and Durango's journeys. Now you can meet them in person!!

🤩Also, we will have an awesome dog in attendance on Saturday: 🐾 P***y! A sweet, beautiful dog who can't wait to meet her forever family. If you've been thinking about adding a canine companion to your life, make sure you stop by and meet this wonderful girl!

Whether you're looking to adopt, thinking about adding another furry family member, or just want to stop by and meet some amazing animals, we'd love to see you there.

💔Her jaw was broken in half.

And we haven't told her story yet.

🩷Meet Zelda.

At only six weeks old, Zelda came to us with a severe upper respiratory infection, eyes crusted shut, difficulty breathing, and a lower jaw that was literally split in two. Our first goal was to help her breathe easier, fight the infection, manage her pain, and get some food into her.

Then Zelda surprised us.

In just a few days, the antibiotics and pain medication started working, and she started trying to devour her food. Despite a jaw that was broken in half, she started eating on her own! We're honestly not even sure how.

Maybe she's just determined. Maybe she was finally well enough to feel hungry. Maybe all she needed was a loving foster mom cheering her on. Whatever the reason, this tiny kitten has shown us she's a fighter.💪

Today, Zelda went back to the vet for a procedure to stabilize the fracture in her jaw. She's awake. She's recovering.

She still has a long road ahead. She's also being treated for parasites and will need medications, follow-up care and removal of the wire in her jaw.

A few days ago, we were worried about whether Zelda would survive. Today, we're looking toward her recovery.

If you'd like to help us continue Zelda's care and help the next injured kitten who has nowhere else to turn, please consider making a donation.

🐾 WE DESPERATELY NEED DOG FOSTERS 🐾

Right now, there are dogs who cannot be helped unless someone opens their home temporarily.

Fostering saves lives. It gives dogs a safe place to decompress, heal, learn trust, and prepare for their forever families! And fostering doesn’t just change the dog’s life, it changes yours, too.

The friendships, purpose, joy, and impact that come from fostering are something so many volunteers say they never expected.

The reality is simple:
We cannot say YES to dogs in need without foster homes.

Fostering is a short-term commitment that helps solve a long-term problem in animal rescue.

Please share. Your share could reach the person who saves a life.

Don’t let Sprocket’s dramatic little meows fool you, this tiny boy is receiving approximately 47 hours of attention per day. 🧡
He simply believes all doors should remain open and all humans should remain within cuddling distance at all times.
(And yes, he numbered the tips himself. He’s orange. Please be patient.)

🚨 PLEASE READ & SHARE 🚨

If you KNOW there is an animal trapped in your engine… PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE!

Today, someone arrived at our building with a kitten trapped inside their engine. They reportedly heard the kitten crying all night but still drove approximately 8 miles to bring the vehicle to us.

Our cat rescue coordinator immediately went to work rescuing the kitten and burned her arm reaching near the hot engine to pull the baby free.

Miraculously, this kitten survived completely unharmed. No burns. No injuries. No missing toes or tail (he was, however, filthy and covered in fleas).
After a bath and a can of cat food, he is now safe with us. ❤️

We understand not everyone is comfortable handling animals, but if you discover a kitten or any animal trapped in your vehicle, PLEASE call for help BEFORE driving. Even a short drive can be deadly.

As kitten season continues, we are caring for orphaned litters, sick cats, and vulnerable animals every single day. If our work matters to you, please consider sharing this post or donating to help us continue saving lives.

We meant to post for National Dog Rescue Day on May 20… but then the kittens staged a full-scale distraction campaign. 🐱💥
Somehow our day turned into bottle feedings, tiny meows, climbing legs, rescuing someone from inside a laundry baskets...
So yes, we missed the date, but we’ll never miss a chance to celebrate the amazing rescue dogs who’ve found loving homes and the people who make second chances possible. 🐶❤️

🐾🐶If you’d like to celebrate with us by adopting a rescue dog of your very own, please check out our current list of adoptable pups and reach out if you’re interested!

👉All dogs require an approved adoption application and are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. 👉Adoption fees are $165 unless otherwise discussed.
