We are going to have a bit of a plan change as of today and our hours. Because of a new pending sale of Reef and Leaf, we are closing down for the rest of the day.

After a great deal of consideration, we are devastated to have to share the news that Reef and Leaf is closing its doors.
We would like to thank everyone who supported our sweet little business in the short time we had it. We are so thankful for the relationships formed during these past few months. We were able to share a common love for aquatic life, plants, and their ecosystems, which would have never been possible without each and every one of you. We love you all and we hope you expand your interest in these hobbies as far as possible. You made a dream become a reality, and even if it was for a moment in time, that is more than most will ever have the privilege of experiencing.

The Nitty Gritty:

We are open to selling the business as a whole, if that is something one of you or someone you may know would be interested in. We will leave the option open through Sunday, February 2. Monday, we will begin selling what we have from the store to individuals at a discounted price. If you have interest in anything in particular within the store (plants, fish, equipment, decor, furniture, custom shelving, etc, please let us know through private message and we will contact you.

Also, if you have an outstanding order that has been placed with us and you paid a deposit, we are going to refund you. We will not be placing any new orders, so all special orders that have been placed with us are now cancelled. Please contact us through private message if you have any questions and we will be more than happy to answer them.

We have a shrimp bowl that was recently started and available for purchase! If you’re interested, please come to Reef and Leaf, pay a $75 deposit, and discuss what shrimp you would want in it! It will not be available to take home for a few of weeks, but you don’t want to miss this opportunity to claim it!

Additionally, if it does get claimed and you want one similar, we have three empty bowls waiting to be built. Kati is here now to handle your deposit, but Taylor will be here at 5 PM if you have questions!

WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!

We are considering adding a jellyfish aquarium to our store! Jellyfish need specific accommodations to help them thrive, but they need very little maintenance, overall. Is anyone interested in having a jellyfish aquairum in their home or office? We love trying new things and as this has been a topic of conversation since opening, we are considering giving housing a few for our own research and experience.

Rooney says “Welcome to my crib!”

At Reef and Leaf, we feed many different kinds of foods. Once or twice a week, the fish get a full-protein breakfast from different sources such as blood worms, beef heart, and shrimp! Having a quality, well-rounded diet for your aquatic friends is always recommended, keeping your fish healthy, happy, and extending their captive lifespan.
Many breeds take a rest after a big meal and this is Rooney’s favorite leaf to nap on after getting a belly full, complete with his snail friend to keep him company!
You may notice this even more after a feeding a food with a larger source of fatty content. Sometimes, you’ll see a boost of energy and they will be zooming around your tank with more activity when fed a protein-rich meal. All fish are different.

It is also important to make sure you are feeding the correct amount. If you see build-up at the bottom of your aquarium, you may be feeding too much. If your fish show signs of weight loss or a visible lateral line down their bodies, they may need more.

Fish are great pets whose needs are able to be read quite like any other pet. So, kick back, hang out with your fishies and watch their personalities come to life.

Rooney, in particular, has had quite a bit of experience with people and is happy to show off his long fins for people who come into the store. For those of our team with clean hands, he’ll even nuzzle up for a pet sometimes.

Hey Reef and Leafers! We just got a call from our fish distributor, and while our order has been processed, there is an artic storm headed towards our distributor’s center, so we will not recieve our order until sometime between Wednesday and Friday. We are very sorry for this wait, but we appreciate all of you for being patient and supporting our business. We will make a post once the order gets here, so keep an eye on our page!

If you did not have a special order with us, we will also be getting in a new freshwater stock and a large aquatic plant selection.
