We had 4 litters born yesterday, but unfortunately 3 of the litters were born to first time mothers who were not prepared for motherhood. One litter of chin rex made it after a brief re-heat in my incubator, so they're with my experienced doe. The other 3 does were re-bred for another go before the weather gets hot.

Four of these lovely lads are looking for new digs! They are all purebred wheaten Marans, and 3 of them meet breed standard. The 4th has 2 side sprigs on his comb and so should be used for pet, meat, or olive egger projects and not retained for use in a Marans program.
Please message me with any questions!
Located in Darrington, WA. Can meet between the King/Snohomish County line and Canada along I5

This is Louis and his flock.
Louis has sired several lovely sons who will be taking his place this season, so he and his remaining 4 sons are looking for new coops to call their own.
All are behavior tested safe, eager to do their jobs, and healthy. One son has side sprigs on his comb but the rest meet breed standard. Louis himself is considered "too red" or over melanized. He hatched from the darkest egg I've ever found in my marans pen. His daughters, hatched from eggs that are 5-7 on the Marans egg color chart, lay about a 6. Pair him with blue or green egg layer hens to make your own unique olive eggers.

Send a private message for more information on Louis if you're interested in a new flock Roo.

This beautiful dozen hatching eggs is up for grabs.
Could hatch purebred wheaten Marans, purebred wheaten Ameracauna, or wheaten olive eggers. Flocks were mixed briefly during a farm-sitter oopsie so this is a get-what-you-get situation.
By 4 weeks, all chicks will be feather sexable as males will begin feathering in black and females will stay very light wheaten color.
25 for the dozen. Darrington WA, local meet up (within 60 miles) only. No shipping available at this time.

I have no idea which Marans hen laid this wonky, bi-colored egg with bonus calcium deposits. But it's super cool! Ameracauna egg for contrast.

Thanks for another laugh, Mary.
Miss Mary is a 6 year old Wheaten Marans hen, and pictured here are 2 of her eggs. The larger one is her usual. The tiny little fart egg below it was a much needed laugh earlier this week while I was collecting eggs. Such an artist! 🤣

Bastian the fibro melanistic Easter-egger has crossed the rainbow bridge.
Several months ago he was injured defending his flock from a bald eagle. I didn't find the injury on his leg until it was already very infected. He remained sound for quite some time, but the infection advanced despite my efforts and the penicillin. I snuggled him for quite a while, and humanely euthanized him in the woods, a short way away from his flock. He seemed completely at peace with it, which helped me. I admit I had a good cry after I was finished.
I hatched Bastian myself years ago, the 2nd generation of my project. He proved himself and won us over by protecting his hens from attacks, by his docile behavior with hens and chicks, and apparent understanding of whatever it is we meant when we scolded or praised him for his various antics.
He was a very good boy. I miss him already.
With him goes my fibro Easter egger program for the time being. I will only be breeding wheaten Marans, wheaten Ameracauna, and wheaten olive egger chickens moving forward.
