We are seeking an equine care professional who is ready to bring their expertise to a professional and rewarding environment. This position participates in a rotating feeding/care schedule shared with owner day to day, with the responsibility of managing care and operations when owner is away. Must have strong awareness of self and your surroundings. The candidate must posses min 3 yrs horse care experience with top equine athletes and skills to handle a variety of horse types. Experience preferred in the showjumping or dressage disciplines.
Headwaters is a private, small, thoughtful, and organized operation dedicated to the wellness of our equine athletes. We are a private stable with attention and priority always paid to our horses' health and wellness.
Required Skills: • Safe Handling • Feeding/watering • Turnout • Blanketing • Stall cleaning (shared work) • Grooming • Equine first aid: IM & IV • General barn cleaning and grounds maintenance • A keen eye for equine wellness and abnormal behaviors• Tractor skills
Employment Terms: Longterm and/or flexible to seasonal terms starting with November - March. Must be able to cover 2- 4 weeks at a time during winter circuit. Post training/trial period also open to contract terms for specified dates.
Compensation reflects responsibility for horse care/facility when owner is away. Opportunities for expanded scope based on expertise. Willing to train the specifics but must bring solid skills/experience. Perfect opportunity for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule to cover schedule rotations including am chores and night check.
