What a great evening at Scenic Hills Youth Ranch!

Last night we had a horsemanship clinic with an amazing group of people. We spent the evening working through different areas of horsemanship, learning, working with the horses, and having a lot of fun along the way.

Scenic Hills Youth Ranch is an incredible place, and I really enjoyed getting to know the people there and seeing what they’re doing.

Build respect, trust, and better communication with your horse through effective groundwork.

In this video, Randall Shirk of Integrity Horsemanship works with Dino and demonstrates essential exercises, including:

• The “Three Backups Times Two”
• Backing through body language
• Halter and lead-rope control
• Responding correctly to physical pressure
• Disengaging the hindquarters
• Directional-control lunging
• Using pressure and release effectively

Good groundwork isn’t about being a boss or dictator—it’s about becoming a clear, dependable leader your horse can trust. By learning to direct your horse’s feet, reward the correct response, and increase pressure fairly when needed, you can develop a safer and more respectful partnership that carries into the saddle.

🐴 A quick look at Dino!

Here’s a quick overview of some of the progress Dino has made while here in the Integrity Horsemanship training program. He has come a long way, and it’s been great getting to work with him and see the progress he’s made!
