Empty bowls are out. Full bowls are in. Drop off dog food or treats in our bin through November 30. Everything goes to local shelters. 💙

He would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for how cute he is. 👻

Picture the letter L. That's the shape of your dog's ear canal, and it's why wax and dirt settle where you can't see them.

Floppy ears hold in more warmth and moisture, so they get the reputation. Pointy ears collect their share, too.

Every ear shape, same routine.

Age 3. 🦷 That's when most dogs start showing early signs of dental disease, barely out of the puppy years.

It starts small, so it's easy to miss. Which is why brushing is a habit worth starting early, not something to save for the senior years.

Wellness, explained mid-bath 🫧

Most of us think of wellness as food, exercise, and vet visits. Routine hygiene is the fourth piece. Skin, coat, ears, nails, and teeth change a little every week, so regular check-ins catch small changes early, not all at once.

10/19/2026

Grandma's dog got the garden hose. Times have changed.

And yes, he sleeps in our bed, too.

10/16/2026

A good bath takes care of the coat and skin. But that still leaves out three other very important areas that need attention. Ears, nails, and teeth need regular care, too.

Keeping up with your dog's routine is a lot of remembering. When was their last visit? What did they say about their ears? Who do you ask at 10 p.m. when something seems off?

The Scenthound app holds it all. Book your pup's next visit, see their S.C.E.N.T. Check results after every appointment, and reach a vet online 24/7.

One less thing to keep in your head this Pet Wellness Month. 🎃 Have you downloaded it yet?

Chat with a Vet 24/7 feature available to Escentials Plus and Unlimited Plus members.

How many of us thought walks kept our dogs' nails short? Dogs in the wild never needed a trim. Miles of running, digging, and rough ground did the work for them.

Our dogs have couches, grass, and walks around the block. Not quite the same wear. So walks help, but they don't finish the job. That's why a nail trim is part of every Basic Hygiene visit.
