Success Story from Atlanta! 🐾

Meet Tyson, a German Shepherd whose car anxiety was so severe he would vomit, refuse to jump in, and wouldn't even ride with his housemate.

I flew to Atlanta and used positive reinforcement to change his world. Now, Tyson is medication-free, he happily jumps in the car, and enjoys the ride right next to his best friend.

This is what a dog's life can look like with the right training

Is your dog's anxiety holding them back? Don't let distance be an issue.

Positive Reinforcement Training

Meet Charlie, a 140lb Cane Corso who was afraid of sliding doors. For him, a trip to the store was a scary experience.

At Can't Get Right K9 Training, we believe in building confidence, not using fear or pain. We are a force-free training company and we never use shock collars or prong collars.

This is how we used positive reinforcement to help Charlie overcome his apprehension and learn to trust the world around him.

Force-free is the best training.

Bad trainers have lied to the public about shock collars. It's time to talk about it.

The truth is, many trainers who use shock collars are misleading the public about their efficacy and even their necessity all together.

They can get away with this because the general public, often not informed about modern, science-based training methods, are also looking for a quick fix.

This combination creates the perfect environment for bad trainers and ineffective, harmful training to thrive.

The unfortunate truth is that the dog training field is unregulated, which means anyone can call themselves a trainer without any formal education or certification.

These are often trainers who lack the skill, education, and compassion to use positive reinforcement effectively, so they rely on outdated "dominance" theories and present shock collars as a quick fix.

Unlike them, at Can't Get Right K9, we have credentials in animal psychology and behavior that give us a deeper understanding of how dogs learn and develop.

This professional understanding is crucial, especially since pet parents who are none the wiser often believe pain-based methods are helping their dogs when in fact it's actually harming them.

The science is in, and it shows that positive reinforcement training is not only more humane but also more effective in the long run.

Leading organizations like the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior and the American Kennel Club have officially spoken out against aversive tools.

"These methods often lead to dogs shutting down," a state that pet parents mistakenly see as well-behaved dog behavior.

This misinterpretation occurs because shock collars are designed to suppress a behavior through pain, not teach a new one.

Ultimately, you have to question the morality of any trainer who would inflict pain on a dog under the guise of helping.

The message is loud and clear: nobody wants their dog shocked anymore. Shock collars are banned in countries like Denmark, Germany, and Wales, and San Francisco has become the first U.S. city to ban them.

At Can't Get Right K9, we've always known this. We understand that pet parents don't know what they don't know, and that's where we come in.

We are advocates for the dog and the human, and we're here to protect both from bad, pain-based trainers.

We're proud to be part of the movement that's building a better world for dogs and their families, one reward at a time.

Imagine, instead, a dog who is happy, confident, and eager to work with you because they trust you completely.

If you believe that hitting, yelling, or cursing at your dog is normal behavior, if you think you need to "dominate" your dog, or if you're not willing to put in the work, we are not a good fit.

At Can't Get Right K9 training, we don't play those games. Our high-end service is based on dog psychology and a deep respect for the animal. But for us, it's about so much more.

We understand the complex love-hate relationship our community has had with dogs, a legacy born from the trauma of oppression, slavery, Jim Crow, and police dogs. That trauma taught us to use force-based training like hitting and yelling at dogs. We are here to change that narrative.

Our work is a cultural and psychological experience, designed to heal those wounds and build new relationships founded on trust, kindness, and understanding.

My passion is to coach clients who are committed to this journey. If you're ready to do the work and build a foundation of mutual respect, then you are the person we want to work with.

If you're ready for a training experience built on respect and dedication, we invite you to start your journey with us.

Are You Truly Ready for a Dog? 🤔

This question starts long before you ever bring a dog home. The honest truth is, a lot of the struggles we see could have been avoided by simply picking the right dog from the start. All the training in the world can't change a dog's fundamental drive. If a fur parent chooses a high-prey-drive dog when their lifestyle is suited for a middle-of-the-road companion, they are setting themselves up for a frustrating cycle from day one.

A Trainer's Perspective: The Human's Responsibility

I believe that many dog parents find themselves in this frustrating cycle because they have a core misunderstanding of what training is. They think it’s simply, “do what I say.” But training is far more than that; it’s about building a language and a relationship.

This brings us to a hard truth: Your dog can only be as good as you allow them to be. 90% of your dog’s behavior, including the unwanted habits, is actually being taught by you. Your dog's struggles are a direct result of our own inconsistency, lack of clear communication, or unwillingness to commit.

The Cycle of Frustration and Its Solution

This lack of commitment explains the most common and heartbreaking outcome we see throughout the training industry. When training feels like a chore, dog parents get frustrated. This is what leads many to turn to forceful methods like shock collars and prong collars, seeing them as a shortcut. But there are no shortcuts.

The result is a dog that's a star pupil with the trainer, but whose progress falls apart at home. The training did stick—the dog's behavior with the trainer proves it.
The problem is with the human. The dog responds exactly as expected: to the person who is consistent, clear, and committed. The long-term results come from you.

The beautiful bond and well-behaved companion you dream of can only be achieved when you embrace the process as a partnership, not a chore. 🤝🐾

How to Stop Your Dog from Running Out the Door (An Atlanta Dog Training Transformation) 🐾

"Change the humans, change the dogs" is our motto. Here's how we did it. 🐕😎💪💯

In this video, I used dog psychology and positive reinforcement training to change this dog's behavior by changing the human behavior.

We tackled the "door dashing" problem using a training technique called claiming your space.

This is all positive reinforcement, with no shock collars, no prong collars, and no verbal commands needed.

We teach you how to speak your dog's language to get real results.
