From $60 auction horse to a finalist at the PA State 4-H Show!
From the minute she got off the trailer Willow was terrified of everything. As she gingerly stepped over the white lines on the pavement in the parking lot, walked wide eye up the ramp into the complex, terrified of everything from the trash cans that were surely going to swallow her hole, to the stack of bedding a maintenance guy dropped on the concrete floor directly behind her she stood stock still in her stall. Sensory overload!
To go from that level of stress and concern to practically sleeping in the staging area before her first keyhole run, being it was her first time at any show of this level, is just simply outstanding!
Eight years I have raised, nurtured, and trained this horse. I can’t tell you the amount of hours, money and effort I put into her. The tears I shed frustrated things weren’t going the way I planned, the number of times I picked myself up out of the dirt, the number of victories in her training or the times we fell short. What I can tell you that the good, the bad, and the ugly were all so worth it, to get to watch my 12 year old niece show her this weekend at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
This sassy little red mare is and always will be my heart horse, no matter how many horses come through my barn! She is my pride and joy of my herd, and I could not be more proud of her!
