In recent years the pet industry has experienced significant attrition due to recalls and other challenges. This has resulted in increased visibility and regulation. With many manufacturing companies closing the doors, there is an increased demand for manufacturing and co-packing services. As a deliberate part of our strategy, we have positioned Ballard as one of the handful of remaining incumbents to take advantage of this increasing demand. This includes leveraging the barriers to entry in added compliance requirements and greater regulation. In February, 2015, Ballard achieved SQF (Safe Quality Foods) certification, one of 26 in the world. SQF allows it to participate at a much higher level within the industry and with a larger pool of customers who require this in the products they sell. This trend is becoming more wide-spread.
