One of my great clients, sent me this podcast. Sometimes it is so difficult to get any of my sessions on video, because things always end up going so deep and getting so personal.
Once I "open a horse up" it tattles and tells all!šš
Horses carry so much of our emotional baggage! To fix the horse, this has to be fixed first.
Emotional baggage causes great confusion and anxiety for the horse. This mixed with communication barriers makes the horse crazy, overwhelmed and over reactive.
I think we can all understand. All I have to think about is trying to communicate with customer service from Malaysia....dealing with a government agency or insurance...and I totally get it!
Horses don't know anything about marriage, finances, jobs and raising kids...but they do know that your stressed frequency matches the frequency, which their nervous system picks up and instinctively reads as threatening.
Just because they don't buck, bite, bolt or strike, doesn't mean that they aren't continually coping and bracing somewhere.
Without this emotional/communication piece out of the way and off the table, it becomes very difficult to know if the horse is reactive and insecure because of physical pain or mental pain...it works exactly the same for people.
It's not being all touchy and sappy, laying on a sofa whining and wallowing. It's taking responsibility for your crap, taking it off your horse and dealing it.
There's a dominance in body systems that can't be avoided. It's called psycho (mental/emotional) - visceral (organs) - somatic (muscle/bone/soft tissue).
No matter how much we want to avoid following the process of how our bodies and the bodies of our horses work, we can't!
Starting at the bottom with band-aids, surgeries, injections, x-rays, medications, bone cracking, supplements, steroids and etc, might allow us to avoid longer, but avoiding doesn't change the way things operate.
Everything operates on and within a system. Avoiding the system and stabbing in the dark, doesn't make the system go away. It also doesn't make us a less responsible player within that system.
Enjoy and Have Yourself A Knotty Day!
