These are only a few of the 1️⃣4️⃣ dogs we have in boarding 🐾😩
You’d think because we have a physical shelter our boarding bill would be $0. Well, the calls never stop and we are ALWAYS over capacity on Bennett Rd. Right now we have 132 dogs in our care. Yes. 132.
🧮After crunching the numbers, boarding is up in the top 3 biggest monthly expenses for LaMa.
Our biggest need: FOSTERS!
Our second biggest need: help with our boarding bill.
Just a two week foster commitment would help us tremendously. We have everything from litters of puppies, to shy dogs that need confidence, to three-legged sweetie pies who just want to snuggle. Seeing a dog in a home setting sets dogs apart - they get chosen by northern rescues so much faster.
We provide everything you may need- crates, pens, food, even a dog bowl if you don’t have one! All we ask is that you get them to the vet if we need to make them an appointment… and even then we can probably help you out!

This picture of Patty made me instantly tear up.
She has been with us a while— and the shelter life has been tough on her. It’s active and busy. Today, she moved into the living room - where it’s much quieter, there’s a couch she can snuggle on, and she will get more time with our awesome worker Hillary.
Here she is with her very own stuffie. It’s probably the first she’s ever had in her life. 🐾
Patty is heartworm negative and ready to be chosen— given a chance at the life she deserves!

🌟 Webster Parish Needs You. Our Animals Need You. 🌟
Right now, our parish is facing an unprecedented overpopulation crisis. Every day, more animals arrive at LaMa Animal Shelter than we have hands to care for. They come to us scared, forgotten, sick, abandoned — and they’re depending on someone to show them that kindness still exists. That “someone” could be you. ❤️
Volunteering at LaMa isn’t just cleaning kennels or walking dogs — it’s changing lives.
It’s lifting a shivering pup into a warm bath.
It’s folding clean blankets that become a safe place for a frightened animal to rest.
It’s giving a ride to a dog who’s never seen the inside of a vet’s office.
It's helping at fundraising events that bring hope to animals who have none.
It’s being the one soft voice a scared dog hears when everything else in its world has fallen apart.
You don’t need special skills. You don’t need experience.
You just need a heart that’s willing to show up.
Whether you can spare a few hours a week or just a little time here and there, you can make a real, lasting difference in the lives of the animals of Webster Parish. And in return, they will give you something priceless: purpose, joy, and the knowledge that you truly mattered to a living soul.
🙏 We are in desperate need of volunteers to help with:
✔️ Animal care
✔️ Laundry and cleaning
✔️ Transporting animals to vet appointments
✔️ Comforting scared or neglected dogs
✔️ Events, outreach, and fundraising
✔️ …and so much more
If you’ve ever wished you could give back to the community, if you’ve ever wanted to make an impact that is felt immediately and deeply — this is your moment.
We’ll help you get started, and we’ll welcome you like family.
Let’s come together for the animals who cannot speak for themselves. Let’s show them that Webster Parish cares. ❤️🐾

Today 3️⃣5️⃣dogs/puppies & 7️⃣ cats are loading up to head to our northern rescue partners! 🚗
Some long-timers (HONEY ASIA!!) and newbies are all getting the chance to find their families. What a blessing for them AND US- we are over capacity even with these heading out.
Every dollar we spend is worth it to help put a dent in our local animal crisis. Every single animal transported is worth all the long days and sleepless nights. Imagine these 35 dogs still roaming the streets. Imagine next summer - when they all start having more pups. Where would we be then? An even deeper hole.
Each animal arrives at their new northern rescue fully vetted:
Healthy puppies cost us (on average)💲214 to vet.
Healthy adult dogs cost us (on avg)💲594 to vet.
Transport days are always bittersweet. Some of these dogs were half-dead when they arrived at the shelter. A tiny piece of our heart leaves with them - but we know there’s a mile-long line waiting to fill each spot.
Care to help with the bill they left behind?

This “Giving Tuesday” I give you one picture that sums up rescue work in the South. Who can relate? 🙋♀️
We know times are tough. We know spays are expensive - trust us - we fixed something like 50 dogs in November. There are mile-long waitlists at all of the local low-cost clinics in Shreveport and ETX. And I’m sure the Webster Parish option stays full, too.
Today, I would like to raise enough money to spay THREE community dogs this month. $900 to save countless offspring from becoming free puppies in a box in a parking lot.
When we are made aware of these “free puppies”… waiting to go to homes where they will probably end up in our care in seven months anyways…
Well- we make room.
That’s our motto until we can’t go any more:
Make Room.
What’s one more?
You’ll never believe who was finally chosen to head to Massachusetts! HONEY ASIA! 🍯
This Thursday will be bittersweet🥲
Bright and early our sweet girl Honey will be making the journey north to find her forever family. She is ready for a home - she deserves all the dog beds, all the couch snuggles, all the belly rubs!
Everyone who has met her falls in love with her instantly 😍
Tell her congratulations! This special girl is on the move and ready to make someone’s house a HOME!

A non-profit, foster based rescue helping homeless, abused and neglected animals in Northwest Louisiana by the way of Spay/Neuter education and subsidy as well as transporting to geographical areas where the animals are more readily adopted in order for them to find their forever homes.
We individually fundraise for each animal we are able to save. We rely on the community to do their part as well (foster, donate etc.) We do not have a physical shelter and CANNOT house animals without pre-arrangement.
