This is Gus and Lincoln. They both get medicated for grooming anxiety, and during Gus’s blow-drying session, Lincoln decided to use my foot as a headrest. 🥹

The third photo is Jax, a corgi who also needs medication to make grooming less stressful. He goes home partially wet and has an express appointment—I work straight through while his owner waits for him.

Grooming isn’t always about perfection.

Sometimes success looks like medication. Sometimes it looks like an express appointment. Sometimes it means going home a little wet.

Medication doesn’t equal failure. Accommodations don’t equal failure.

Every dog deserves the chance to be successful in their grooming journey. ✨🐾

I got a pretty unexpected email today from the McKenzie Community Partnership 🥹💖

They run Visit McKenzie River, a website dedicated to helping locals and visitors discover businesses and things to do along the McKenzie River corridor — and apparently they found Moxie’s and decided to add us. 😭✨

I didn’t submit Moxie’s. I didn’t pay for a listing. They found my little grooming studio, created a page for us, and reached out to let me know we’re now featured on Visit McKenzie River.

And idk, that just feels REALLY freaking cool. 🥹

When I moved Moxie’s upriver, I hoped this whimsical dream of mine would find its place out here. Getting an email like this makes me feel like maybe we already have. 💖✨

Thank you to the McKenzie Community Partnership for supporting local businesses and for thinking Moxie’s was worth including.

Yesterday I got to groom a dog I hadn’t seen in years. 🥹

Miss Dory💖

I started grooming her when she was just a puppy. She followed me through multiple shop moves, and somewhere along the way, I got to watch her grow up.

She was never an easy dog to groom. 😂 She hated being brushed, had very strong opinions, and honestly… she taught a younger version of me SO much about patience, trust, and meeting a dog where they are.

A few years ago, she and her mom moved out of state, and I thought that chapter had closed.

But yesterday, while they were back in town visiting, I got to groom my girl again. 😭💖

And it reminded me of something I don’t think people always realize:

Your dog is so much more than “just another dog” on my schedule.

When you bring your dog to me year after year, I get to know them. I learn their quirks. I know what they hate, what makes them feel safe, and exactly how they like to be handled. I notice when they get older. I celebrate their progress. I worry about them. I miss them when they’re gone.

And sometimes, they teach me just as much as I ever give them.

There are dogs I haven’t groomed in years that I still think about.

So to every person who has ever trusted me with their dog—whether for one groom or for their entire lifetime—thank you.

You might be handing me your dog for a few hours.

But you’re also letting me become a tiny part of their life.

And I am so incredibly grateful for that. 🥹💖🐾

Four days ago I posted a silly video of Beef in ✨FACE JAIL✨ because… well, if you’ve met Beef, you understand.

And somehow 382,000+ people have watched it.
46,000+ likes.
2,000+ saves.
And still climbing.

When I started Moxie’s, I hoped I could build a little corner of the internet where we could laugh about the weird, spicy, dramatic, wonderful dogs we love.

I just never expected a sparkly yellow face jail and one ridiculous pug to introduce Moxie’s to hundreds of thousands of people. 😂
