Memorial Day is a time for Americans to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the United States military. It is more than just the unofficial start of summer or a long weekend — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. Families visit cemeteries, attend parades, fly American flags, and take moments of silence to recognize the courage and selflessness of fallen service members.

The meaning of Memorial Day also reminds us of the cost of freedom and the importance of never forgetting those who served their country with honor. Behind every name etched on a memorial is a story of sacrifice, love, and dedication. The holiday brings people together in remembrance and encourages future generations to appreciate the values of patriotism, unity, and service. Memorial Day stands as a powerful tribute to the heroes who will always be remembered for their courage and commitment to the nation.

Just a reminder. If you or someone you know, a close friend, whoever it is, works/owns a business and would like to donate for our St. Jude Ride, drop us a DM and let us know the location. We will get a member over to you and pick up your donation. Please provide a small description of the item so we can list it accordingly and your name or business name will go correctly on our donor banner. We need it by next Sunday. Plus, you can tell all you know that you helped us get over that $250,000 mark of total donations!!!

Last Wednesday, we attended the event that got it all started for us; the Illinois Law Enforcement Memorial pre-party. In 2008, the original charter members who attended the event saw that nearly every motorcycle club came from around Chicago. They sought to change that and add some presence from here in Springfield. Not wanting a “LE” specific club, the Springfield Chapter was chartered. Since then, Livingston, Orland Park, and soon, Pontoon Beach Chapters formed.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful Mothers out there. Your dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the family never goes unnoticed. This also goes out to the all newly minted mothers who may have recently welcomed a small bundle of joy into the world. We would also like to remember the mothers who have gone before us. Your memory and presence is still felt with us every day. So, to all you moms, mothers to the fur babies, whatever you might be a mother to, we salute you!!!

Death is inevitable. You can tell a lot about a person by who shows up at their funeral. Today, one soldier and one sailor were laid to rest who had no family to be there. Dozens upon dozens of strangers came to Camp Butler to be their family.

Today, the Springfield, Livingston, Council Bluffs, and Central Georgia Chapters had the chance to conduct a formal “Meet and Greet” with potential new members to form the “Steel City” Chapter down in Pontoon Beach. We definitely look forward to their contributions in their community and to the Roughneck Nation!!
