“Fishbone” AKA Fish 🐠

Fish is a 2021 model AQHA gelding with a timeless look and a personality to match. Balanced and correct, Fish is a dream to ride and is ready to go in any direction you want to take him. He has been in our program for a year and has been given a foundation with a strong emphasis in ranch pleasure. He’s flashy when he’s not moving but really turns heads with his naturally floaty W/T/C.

Fish has some cow sense and has been used several times to gather and sort, but we think his true calling is in the show ring. He is what we call “idiot proof” and while we will never use the word “Bomb proof” to describe any horse, there isn’t much that phases him.

Loads, ties, bathes, stands for farrier, easy keeper. No buck, kick, bite, or any other adverse behavior, BUT he is really goofy and does love to groom you if you let him!
He’s easy to collect, soft, and athletic. He would be best suited for an intermediate to advanced rider who would be interested in taking him to the next level. This is one we would love to keep in our program!

Scooter is a 6 year old registered Appaloosa that will go anywhere and do anything. DO NOT let this guys sweet face and coffee cream color fool you, this is a TOUGH cookie who strives for a job. He’s the first one to greet you at the gate and even whinnies at you as you’re walking up. It’s rare to find a horse that truly loves to work as much as this guy. Throw a rope off him, push cows, or trail ride him to the ends of the earth, this guy has no quit and no chill. His cream and caramel coloring is unique, he has a long thick platinum blonde mane, and the cutest little mug you could ask for. Scooter is best suited for an intermediate to advance rider because he has a big motor and is very feely. Just a touch of a spur or a shift of weight will signal something in him, so he does best with a balanced rider who knows where they are in the saddle. He will neck rein, quick stop, and w/t/c easily. His jog is easy to sit and navigate, he has a ground covering extended trot and an easy little lope to work in. Scooter is not the quickest guy in the cow pen but will give you an honest days work and is consistent in what he gives. Puppy dog personality, he wants to be with you and get lots of love and attention. He’s a sweet honest horse and a best friend all in one!!

It’s so cool when people who board with us or clients are so bought into the creative side of what we do, and start creating on their own. It fires me up.

The ability to be creative is a freedom so many are deprived of, either because of outside institutions or because of their own minds limitations. Fear of judgement, of failure. Being creative is VULNERABLE.

Breakaway is a place where horses teach you anything and everything. Leadership, grief, healing, strength, tenacity, and creativity. The ability to be your true authentic self.

And we love to capture it.

Happy birthday , you beautiful soul, and thank you for allowing us to see your soul.

I think that so often animals choose their people, and the universe brings together horses and people for a reason maybe unbeknownst to us at the time.

This is 100 % how I feel about this pair.

When I showed my husband these photos he said “they look like they were made for each other”, and I couldn’t agree more.

Lately I have been fighting so hard with doing what is responsible, what I should do based on what society deems the right thing, and jumping in both feet to fully chasing my dream. It’s so scary either way.

On one hand I am caught in a loop where I am unhappy but more stable, and on the other hand I am happier, but there are so many uncertainties.

My hands and my brain both look like this ⬆️ at the end of each day. Dirty, worn, blistered, and tired. The bags keep getting darker as my eyes keep sinking further into my head and my thoughts keep dividing and fighting into this cerebral civil war inside of me.

Is this what we are meant for?

Why do we have to weigh such heavy pros and cons when it comes to chasing our dreams? Is this what the human experience is supposed to be?

The equestrian dream isn’t for the faint of heart. I have said it before and I will say it again - it will eat you up and spit you out.

It’s your choice whether or not you continue to get your hands dirty to fight for the life you want.
