Happy Saturday! Yesterday was a fun day at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, including playtime with Astro 🌠 the husky puppy and a couple staff members!

🚨 There's a fee-waived adoption event sponsored by the MSPCA from Monday 8/18 - Saturday 8/23. Fees are waived for adult dogs at TJO and other participating shelters.

🐾 These are the pups I hung out with on Friday:

Astro 🌠 is not yet available for adoption unfortunately! It was so fun taking him out to play and I could have stayed all day to play if I didn't have other walks to do.

Smoke 💨 has a big ol' head and an even bigger personality! He's super friendly and likes to play and get butt scratches and is a bit picky about what treats he likes.

Dottie 💬 is a very sweet girl who loves people and treats. She sat very patiently for the freeze dried treats I had and sniffed out a leftover milkbone in the run area.

Karma 🐾 is great at sitting and being a model, she's very food motivated! She also screams when she's excited so be prepared for that if you want to meet her 😁

Mudpie 🥧 (idk who came up with this name) is the sweetest girl! She was content to do her own thing and then came to me whenever she wanted a treat and some pets and she licked my face.

Honey 🍯 is a older guy who is content to be near you and get gentle pets. He warms up pretty quick if you go at his pace.

Jojo is an older girl who's a bit timid but will absolutely trust you in exchange for treats.

Lulu was very vocal when I took her out, she sniffed around and did a big stretch before laying down to sunbathe.

Happy Sunday!

Dogs at TJO had a great time on Friday getting outside to play, enjoy the sun 🌞, and get some enrichment!

Karma loved the enrichment activity that another volunteer left out for us. And all it was were treats stuffed in a 🧻 toilet paper tube and the ends crinkled shut, some dogs like Karma love problem solving and getting the treats out!

Mudpie shows me much more of her personality now that she trusts me! She's super excited to go out and she even gave me a couple kisses when I squatted down to get a couple pictures 😁

Wolfgang is such a cute puppy! He's listed as a german wirehaired pointer and he's only 5/6 months old. He loves to play and is still working on learning to sit

Safari is also a fun young dog, she's only about 11 months old. She's always in a good mood it seems, on Friday she was wiggly and more content soaking up the sun than running around.

Dottie was pretty amped up on Friday, she ran around a lot to burn off some extra energy.

Billy exists in his own little world, he was so focused on sniffing around the run-area that he didn't even notice the treats I was offering him.

Honey and Lulu are pretty chill older dog content with sniffing and hanging out in quiet areas. I took out another similar dog, Jojo but she was a bit nervous of the camera so I didn't get a good picture. She's on the adoption page though!

Happy August! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. These are the dogs I took out this past Friday at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center. If you're interested in learning more about these pups, please visit their website or stop by during their open hours or schedule an appointment.

🍞 Ciabatta is working through some skin issues but she looks so much better than she did when she first came in! And despite this, she still is super affectionate and loves butt scratches and giving kisses and looooves treats.

🌌 Aurora is a german shepherd & husky mix so she's very high energy and curious and is overall a very fun dog! She'd be a great fit for a family with experience with either shepherds or huskies.

🐾 Kora is another super sweet dog, likes to play and run around. She'd do great in a home that she can have lots of fun in.

💅🏼 Karma is even more energetic than Kora and she loves to give kisses and sometimes uses her whole mouth to do it!

🐘 Safari is less than a year old so has a lot of puppy energy and still has a lot to learn, but she knows some tricks like sit. She's also super wiggly when she gets excited lol

💬 Dottie is a very sweet girl and can be a bit jumpy when excited, and she also loves playing in water. She's also tolerant of various types of handling so she could be a great fit for a family with kids if they can manage her excited jumping!

🥧 Mudpie and I are officially friends I think! She was excited to go out this week and didn't need any bribes, so that was exciting! She's a dog that needs some patience but once she trusts you she's a lot of fun! She loved my fuzzy blue squeaky toy, she stole it and ripped the squeaker right out. But it's ok she had fun doing it lol

🐝 Bee is a little terrier that's a bit nervous but will trust you if you go slow. He also liked the fuzzy blue squeaky toy, so luckily I took him out before Mudpie lol

These are the dogs I took out this past Friday at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center

Kora is an energetic girl who likes to play and would be a great adventure buddy

Mudpie is wary of new people but with some patience and a handful of milkbones, she'll come around to be your friend. And then she has lots of love to give!

Safari is just under a year old, she's super wiggly and affectionate and is super happy to see everyone it seems. She'd be perfect in a home that can match her energy.

Karma is another energetic pittie mix who loves to give kisses and run and play.

Ranger loves squeaky toys! As soon as he hears a squeak he stops what he's doing with his ears perked up.

Ciabatta is a very sweet girl who's working through some skil/allergy issues right now, so she's a bit itchy but that hasn't dampened how sweet she is.

Happy Friday! These are the pups I hung out with at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center today!

One of the other amazing volunteers left me an enrichment box to use with the dogs today and they had a lot of fun. I did forget to bring it out for Henrietta tho :( and Jasper tried peeing on it 😅

Einstein absolutely loves his enrichment box. Smelling out treats is one of his favorite activities, usually I scatter them in the grass for him but he gets so excited when he sees the box!

Stevie Nicks also enjoys the box, she's just a bit more low-key about it.

I wasn't sure if Rose would enjoy the box, but she stuck her head in right away and found every crumb!

Ranger is less interested in treats but he loves anything that squeaks!

I wasn't able to take everyone out today due to my own schedule constraints but there's a bunch of great dogs (and cats and small animals) looking for new homes & families!

Better late than never! It's been a bit wild over here between staff vacations and increasing animal intakes, but we still did pretty good last month. Here's our adoption board, showcasing the animals that went to their new homes. June included 1 bird, 4 turtles, 11 dogs, and 36 cats adopted, 10 cats and 46 dogs reunited with their families, and 3 rabbits, 8 cats, and 12 dogs transferred to our shelter and rescue partners. As always, we couldn't do it without all of your support, so thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
