there were only a couple dogs last Friday when I went to Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, Spongey and Lana, so after I took them out I helped break down boxes from all the donations TJO received during ! I also got some more pictures of the cats 🐱

I took out a lot of fun dogs this past Friday and also had a few minutes to look at the cats available for adoption too! I don't work with the cats so the only info I have on them is whatever is on the website.

Gilbert locks in when he hears a squeaky toy

Copper was adopted a couple days after this!

Jax is a big fan of treats and sitting in laps!

Taking Nala out is funny specifically because she is comfortable with me but only if she is at least 6ft away. I have to toss her treats, she still thinks I'm a klutz 😅 - she is willing to get much closer with people she trusts lol

Gracie is a little timid but in a "wants to socialize but is also super awkward" kind of way, she's super sweet!

There's a cute black dog I hung out with, I forget her name but I think it was Lana! (She's not on the website so she might have been adopted!)

Frankie is so cute and friendly and photogenic and is a 10/10 good boy

These are the pups I hung out with this past Friday at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center 🐾

Charles is so full of energy and is always excited to go out even though he's still recovering from a leg injury!

Palmera is a sweet old girl who's last day at TJO was on Saturday!

Nala is a sweet but shy girl who takes some time to build trust with! She trusts me enough to take treats and go out, but I accidentally tripped near her last week so she still keeps her distance, possibly concerned I'm going to trip again lol 😅

Tom is a chill old Chihuahua!

Jax is a fun pittie with eyebrows! He really likes treats!

Copper is a super sweet girl who loves treats and I know would love nothing more than a good couch to cuddle up on!

There's a whole lot of dogs currently available for adoption at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center - I got to hang out with a bunch of awesome pups but I didn't have time to get to everyone, so be sure to check out TJO's website or stop by to see who's looking for a new home! 🐶😸

Odin, who had a meet and greet with a potential family right after our walk! 🤞

Sasha, who is a sweetheart and likes a good treat!

Charlie, who has a broken leg or some injury but I don't think he realizes it. He's so wiggly and ready to go, it made it difficult to put his b***y on 😆

Sidney loves treats and was super excited to go for a walk!

Remy is a young rottie who would do best in a home that understands body language and cues, she can be a bit possessive of her things but she has been wonderful everytime we go for a walk.

I gave Fig a freeze dried salmon treat and Fig decided to roll all over it before eating it 😅

Mazzy's favorite game is anything that involves treats, smelling things on a walk, or napping! She'd love a quiet home to hang out in.

I took so many photos of Jasper because he's so handsome and posed so well for the camera and he was also pretty good at catching treats! He's a high energy big dog. He's listed as an Akita but I wouldn't be surprised if an Embark test said he was some combo of hound/shepherd/husky. Whatever he is, he'd do best in a home ready for his shenanigans and as an only pet.

Happy Halloween 🎃 and 🐾

I thought it'd be fun to bring a pumpkin with me today since it's Halloween and get the pups to pose with it (with varying degrees of success 😅)

Odin loved the pumpkin, he immediately carried it in his mouth and wanted to bring it back to his kennel. You can see his teeth marks in some of the other photos lol

Sasha was less interested in the pumpkin and much more interested in the pumpkin flavored treats in my pouch, so I used them for some enrichment.

Copper has mastered puppy dog eyes and is the sweetest girl in the whole world I'm sure anyone would fall in love as soon as they meet her.

Chocolate is also super sweet like her namesake but she was more interested in pets over treats.

Fig moves so fast for a dog with 3.5 legs. One of them doesn't work quite right but Fig doesn't let it stop her!

Mazzy is very easy going and laid back, I thought she was older than she was, but she's two years old. She's just mostly interested in naps and treats.

Remy is a very energetic pup who was happy to go out and explore. She was not very interested in the pumpkin and was unsure what to make of it.

Ezra is a pretty laid back pup who warmed up to me after hanging out with him for a few minutes.

Leilan is a very friendly and gave another volunteer a hug when we walked by! She is a little timid but brave!

Things have been chaotic over here, but we wanted to be sure to share our September adoption board before October was over.

While adoptions nationwide have slowed down, we are working very hard to ensure that our animals continue to move forward in their adoption process. This means we are still transferring a good number of animals to areas where the adoption rate is higher or to foster based organizations where they get to live in homes while awaiting their new families.

In September, we adopted out 45 cats and 10 dogs. We reunited 5 cats and 33 dogs with their original families. We also transferred 26 cats, 23 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, and 3 chickens to other organizations to help expedite their adoptions.

We continue to be floored by the support from our community. Whether monetary donations to the Foundation for TJO Animals or items to the shelter to improve the animals stays while with us, we appreciate each and every one of you for helping us help them!

📍 These are the pups I hung out with this past Friday at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center

If you're interested in adopting, check out the website or pay the adoption center a visit during open hours! You'll be greeted by some other great volunteers and staff will be happy to answer all your questions.

🐧 Puffin is a fun little guy who runs bounds as much as he runs!

🏁 I may have said "Praise Dale. Raise Hell" multiple times while hanging out with Dale the Chihuahua. I feel like he lives up to his namesake. (I'm not actually sure where his name came from 😅)

🎥 Holly is so sweet and she loves her favorite people! But you do a volume warning when you first meet her as she also loves to sing the song of her people!

🫖 Jasmine is a sweet boxer who seems to really enjoy playing with other dogs, though I think she would do better with dogs her size. She doesn't seem to realize how big she is!

🐾 Mazzy is a sweet old girl who likes treats and soaking up the sun ☀️

🐘 Safari is a super energetic ball of muscle who would do well with a family that can match her speed!

🐾🐾 Sasha & Odin are siblings who I'm not sure if they're up for adoption yet or not.

Check out the adoption page for regular updates, staff do a wonderful job and prioritize the care of the animals so sometimes the adoption page isn't always 100% up to date. You can call as well with any questions! 😁
