From our most loyal customers to our newest members, please read.

This is one of the hardest messages I’ve ever had to write. Absolutely no one is more disappointed or frustrated than I am about this situation. For this, I will be shutting down comments on this post, but please reach out to the store with any and all questions and concerns.

After pouring everything I have - my heart, time, energy, and every ounce of hope - into this business, I’ve come to the deeply painful decision to close our doors.

As many of you know, when I took over this business over, it was already closing its doors. They had liquidated and I jumped in headfirst and chose to go through this journey strictly on passion for wellness and animals. This year has been a dream that I wouldn't change for the world.

This wasn’t a choice made lightly. I’ve fought for this dream through sleepless and moments where I felt like I couldn’t keep going. I love our customers and community - with many of you becoming friends and family. I believed in what we were building. I believed in the community we created. I could not be more grateful for the way you all have believed in me.

Unfortunately, despite giving it everything, the weight of inflation, industry challenges, and rising costs became too heavy to carry. I’ve exhausted every option I had. I worked other jobs, stretched every dollar, and held on as long as I possibly could - longer than I probably should have - because letting go is heartbreaking.

What made this journey worth it was never just the product or the service. It was you - the people who walked through our doors, supported us online, told their friends, shared kind words, and reminded me why we started this in the first place.

Please know that every purchase, every conversation, every moment of encouragement and laughter mattered. More than I can ever explain. This wasn’t just a business. It was my passion, my purpose, my second home. And now, it’s time to say goodbye.

Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for being part of this chapter of my life. I’ll carry the memories, the lessons, and the love with me wherever I go next.

About Us!

Finding the right food for your pet can be challenging – especially if your favorite companion suffers any health problems. We’re Holly and Dennis Ensor and, before Pet Wants, we were home cooking 80 pounds of hamburger, 50 cups of rice, and 15 pounds of carrots for our dogs each month. When we tried Pet Wants – and saw the difference it made – we knew this was something special. We had talked about opening our own business and decided that opening Pet Wants Springfield would be the perfect combination of our passion for pets and our entrepreneurial spirit. Pet Wants’ carefully developed proprietary pet food is slow-cooked in small batches with fresh, all-natural ingredients once per month, so every kibble is guaranteed to be fresh and packed with nutrition. In addition to being made fresh monthly, Pet Wants only sources the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice, and other ingredients available. There’s no sugar added, no fillers, and no animal by-products and, since Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy or dyes, the food is a great fit for pets with allergies. We want to make giving your pets great food easy, so if you live in Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Rogersville, or the surrounding communities, we’ll bring the food to your door at no charge. We’re excited to tell people about the nutritional value of Pet Wants. We had two yellow labs – Ben & Jerry (because we love ice cream!) – and finding food for them was a challenge. We researched everything and tried all kinds of food, but nothing worked until Pet Wants. It’s miraculous. You should feel good about what you’re feeding your pets and, with Pet Wants, we know you will.

When we're not educating people about pet food in our store or at farmer's markets or pet events, you can find us on our ten acres enjoying nature or spending time with our children – Chris and his wife Marian and Sarah and her husband Chris – as well as our grandchildren, Gabriel, Jude and Lonan and our Labradors, Jessie & Bo. We miss Ben & Jerry very much!
