Hooray for Spring Solstice!
I can't wait to bring you flowers this coming season including these stunning hybrid violas that I'm growing from seed again this year. Hoping they'll be blooming in about 45 days. Been busy getting the garden beds amended and ready for this year's flowers including some new heirloom mums and alstroemeria that I'm very excited about growing!

Hard to believe this is my 7th growing season for cut flowers! My selling season usually starts in June and runs through late October/early November depending on frost.

Speaking of frost, after all this lovely warm weather we've had this past week, 32 degrees is forecast for overnight. So don't forget to protect your tender plants if they haven't been hardened off yet.

A friendly reminder: We've got more freezing overnight temps forecasted for about 5 days, so don't forget to bring your frost tender potted plants into your garage or inside, if possible. And cover up your vulnerable landscape plants with frost cloth, sheets or blankets.

This is one of my favorite photos that I took a couple years ago, and these ferns always bounce back from these crazy low temperatures.

Hello to Hellebores! I'm sure many of you have them in your gardens.

Did you know this winter bloomer makes a good cut flower, although sometimes it can be a little finicky in the vase? I've found it's best to cut the most mature flowers when the stamens have fallen off for the best vase life. Cut deep into the plant for the longest stems.

Another tip is to cut the large older leaves off the plant in winter for more blooms. This allows more light and air to reach the center of the plant for more growth.

Go make yourself a beautiful bouquet to enjoy in the house!
