It is with great sadness and regret that British Showjumping confirm Chris Moyce passed away in hospital on 15 April following a fall in the warm-up area on the 4 April while competing at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre, Slapton, Buckinghamshire.

A well-respected producer of showjumpers for many years, including Pjort, who went on to international success with Geoff Luckett whilst still in his ownership, Chris, of Canterbury, Kent, will be much missed and mourned by the showjumping community.

“Chris passed away peacefully without regaining consciousness,” said close friend and fellow showjumper Heidi Luck. “On behalf of [his partner] Mark and the rest of Chris’s family, we would like to say Chris loved being a showjumper and it gives us some small comfort that he spent his last day doing his most favourite thing in the world. Mark and the family would like to thank everyone for all their support during this difficult time.”

Iain Graham, Chief Executive of British Showjumping, said: “Chris supported showjumping in many ways and was greatly respected by officials, staff and fellow competitors. He was always encouraging to those starting off in the sport and gave a lot of his time in helping British Showjumping activities in his area.”

All at British Showjumping would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.

by far my fav. ... 🩷
She was massive—over 17 hands tall. A queen in both size and soul. But Zenyatta didn’t just run races; she performed symphonies. Each race was a slow build, a rising swell of tension... and then an explosion.

From the back of the pack, she'd watch chaos unfold ahead. Then, as if on cue, she'd flick her ears forward, gather herself, and fly. Her trademark? A ballet dancer’s prance in the paddock—light, playful, full of power she hadn't even begun to show.

Her most iconic triumph? The 2009 Breeders’ Cup Classic. The first female to ever win it. Against a field of the best males in the world, she stood stone last—until she wasn’t.

Coming around the turn, Mike Smith asked. Zenyatta answered. She slipped through the wall of colts like wind through trees, surging past them like a myth. The crowd didn't cheer—they gasped. And when she crossed the wire first, undefeated and untouchable, the gasp became thunder.

She bowed to them after, like a queen acknowledging her people.

Vet notes: McKinlay & Peters Equine Hospital
This neurologic rhino outbreak is serious.
Stay home till things are under control. ...
please listen to the Vet! ...

Please note addtional comment below!

ATTENTION:
To all my horse friends, roping buddies, barrel racers, breakaway ropers, and clients.
This neurologic rhino outbreak is serious. Stay home till things are under control. There is now a 3rd property involved. There is a mix of western performance and english horses there. All horses and disciplines are at risk. There may not be a worse way for a horse to die than neurologic rhino.
Be safe, they can't get it if they aren't exposed.
PS To equine professionals that move between different barns. You can potentially spread this disease. You should be cleaning up and changing clothes between barns for a while. Thank you, Dr. Bob Peters

PLEASE NOTE! Just to be absolutely clear. I did not post that there is a 3rd property with a confirmed positive. I said "involved" as in under suspicion, tests taken.
But, It's not a terrible idea to assume you need to be abundantly cautious about any travel and or exposure.

unreal, ... I love this horse.
reminds me of Cassie's Honey aka Mon Legionnaire,
when she was 7yrs old at Ride America, and their
decisions on course, lol freaked us all out...
he was built a lot like this one, ...
turn, angles, leave a stride out, to a dang vertical!
lol my old rope horse, maybe why he could be like
a cat, spin on his inside hind leg, 2 strides to a big
combination, she didn't care, him either lol I DID !
haha, ... scary. but they did it. ...
I can hardly watch the old videos. loved Ride America, ...
they were amazing on the grass, so kewl. music too.
lol... this team gives me back my memories, ...
I love this, ... makes my heart happy. ❤️🐴♥️
