We need help treating a stray with heartworm disease!

Happy Tuesday all, we are again putting out a call for community help with a stray who has urgent medical needs.

Cooper was found wandering around rural Dade City. We got him scanned for a chip, and he has none. But he showed many signs of neglect and abuse, and he immediately presented with medical issues - notably, a severe ear infection and a urinary tract infection.

What we couldn't see with our eyes was that he also has a pretty advanced stage heartworm infection, and it required immediate, expensive treatment.

The good news: Cooper has a dedicated foster, and we are getting this done at the lowest cost possible. The bad news: it's still adding up to $1,500. This does not include his future neuter, or any unforeseen issues to come, or day-to-day costs such as food.

Penny's is 100% self-funded, but we ask for help when pets like Cooper hit our radar. Nobody was able to take Cooper in, so we decided to act to get him some immediate relief.

Blanche A2490166 *hospice

Blanche is 15 years old, weighs 6.3lbs, intact female who came to PRC as a stray. She is a gentle, sweet senior kitty who is underweight and has severe stomatitis, along with ongoing congestion and mucoid nasal discharge. PRC suspects chronic herpes and calicivirus, which contribute to her oral lesions and respiratory issues. Despite this, Blanche continues to show her affectionate nature and enjoys eating when she’s feeling well.

Blanche’s bloodwork shows mild anemia and chronic inflammation, but she has been stable and even gaining weight recently. She is currently on Gabapentin for comfort, SQ fluids, and antibiotics.

Blanche is in need of a rescue where she can be surrounded by love and gentle attention while living out her senior days in comfort. She may need ongoing medications and supportive care, but her sweet, loving personality makes every moment with her rewarding.

Big Christmas surprise here at Penny's! Our rockstar mama hen hatched ELEVEN BABIES all by herself in a single day and night! She is a super hen, because we did not even realize she was sitting on more than two eggs. We don't bother her while she's broody, but we will need to bother her from now on 😂 On another note, Mr. dad chicken Hank decided to take the hens who aren't mothers and run over the fence! Sensing his mega increase in fatherly responsibilities and child support, we suppose he tried to run for the hills. We will be building a net canopy so this can't happen again - LOL!

Henry, Bert and Ernie all celebrated their first Christmas with us here at Penny's! Ernie looks very serious, but is actually super goofy. His favorite activities are EATING, and playing with the cats' laser toy 😄
All the dogs and cats got a steak dinner for Christmas, and the dogs got new toys. And everyone got a walk around the neighborhood, which the old men doggos love.
Today they have all been napping extra after all the hard work they did yesterday doing...absolutely nothing 😂

This is the happiest of Happy Fridays! Miracle the neglected pitty from St. Pete has been adopted! 🥳🎊🎉

Miracle spent a week and a half at Penny's healing up from her ordeal. An amazing couple, Tom and Andrea saw Miracle's story posted as it was unfolding, and they fell in love. Miracle reminds them of their amazing pup Gracie, who they rescued under very similar circumstances.

We met at their incredible vet's office Trinity Oaks Pet Wellness Center, and the whole staff came in to meet Miracle. She got an exam and is a healthy girl! She is appx. 4 years old. She has damage to her nose and teeth, probably from trying to escape her cages before 😭 She has obviously had numerous litters of babies. She got vaccinated and will receive ongoing treatment for her skin and ear issues - but those were cleared up a ton thanks to Bay Moorings Animal Hospital taking her in on night one! Miracle will be spayed as soon as the vet thinks her body is ready for it.

She is going to have an amazing life with parents who love her deeply, and 3 doggo siblings to play with! She even celebrated her first official birthday today in the vet's office after she got a new necklace, new shirt, and new toy 🥰She also received an official name - Cassie (from the name "Mama Cass" playfully given to her during her stay here).

Thank you to everyone who came together to get Cassie a miracle, and save her from the literal depths of hell. She won the jackpot today!
