This is a shout out to the unsung heroes of puppy raising: the older dog. They never get a say in the decision to add another member to the household, but for the most part they just roll with it.

This particular girl is River. She's doing a great job helping her owner teach the new puppy about bite inhibition and healthy play behaviors, all while being used as a jungle gym and a chew toy. 😉 River is a good girl!

At the end of most of my days, Miss Lulu the Great Dane has the honor and privilege of sniffing my pants legs to find out who I've seen and where I've gone. Every new dog in my daily walking schedule gets cataloged in that great big Dane head.

This little 9 week old girl is making strides to become a wonderful, confident dog. Though a spicy puppy at times, she's very smart and has picked up on good potty habits right away! I can't wait to see what you learn next Miss Rumor!

One of Abby's favorite parts of her day, aside from when her mom gets home from work, is when I come in to get her for walkies. Abby helpfully points out where her harness is every day! What would I do without you, Abby?!

I'm so happy right now. This little brindle Chihuahua, Tito, could hardly stand to be in the same room as me a week ago. He's a foster dog that wasn't socialized as a puppy to new people and consequently is quite wary of any human he doesn't know.

Thanks to what I learned in my Fear Free Pets Petsitter Certification courses, I've been able to help Tito feel more and more confident around me while his preferred human is away. This morning he climbed into my lap! He still won't accept scritches from me, but I'm so happy that he feels this level of trust in me. I've shown him over the course of the week that I won't chase him, try to pick him up, or try to touch him when he shows he doesn't want to be touched. Gaining trust with dogs means helping them feel as safe as possible.
