May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month. As canine Lyme risk continues to expand across parts of the U.S. and Canada, vaccination conversations may look different than they did even a few years ago.

The 2022 AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines note that Lyme vaccination should be considered for dogs that live in or travel to endemic or emerging risk regions, especially those with outdoor exposure to Ixodes ticks.

Vaccination should also be paired with an effective ectoparasite prevention program to help reduce disease transmission risk.

Explore the AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines for additional recommendations on Lyme disease prevention, regional risk considerations, and vaccine decision-making: https://hubs.li/Q04gcQGS0
