Poor May!
The dogs stirred up a yellow jacket ground🐝 nest - not sure how many got stung- even I got stung so ouch! I’m in awe over how stoic these pups are. I definitely whined the most. 🙄 All 15 dogs spent the day inside until we got the “all clear”. As luck would have it- the puppies were due for their second round of shots at our fantastic vet so May also got a Benadryl injection!

Third time for these Sila pups in the house! Introduced to the vacuum- they avoided it when I first brought it out- then investigated- then wondered if it was a chew toy! Time for distractions! Doggy chew toys brought out and peace reigns!! These pups are so chill!

Bentley slept through lunch! When I finally found him under some bushes he had to eat by himself- and ended up going for a car ride and some shopping! He was admired and got to say hello to many fellow shoppers. He was happy, calm and inquisitive the whole time! Having my mom as a travel companion was a huge benefit! ❤️♥️❤️

Puppies are now following me around the farm- “helping” with chores (and stealing cups!). Some figured out that there is no need to crawl under an open gate- others are still learning- 😂! It takes twice as long- but I believe their new families will get a head start! I want my dogs to be as stable and confident as possible- for their own sakes! Scrambling buckets- metal can lids slamming- hay bales tossed and wheelbarrows coming towards them- they are learning to cope with sounds and sudden movements in a safe environment. And I’m hoping their new owners will see all the potential these little Silas have and love them as much as I do!!

We did “vet training” before our Sila pups’ first vet visit (put on a table, check mouth, ears, lift tail, check belly- things the vet will do) and what happened?? This. Absolutely nothing- haha! Relaxed sleeping pups- who dragged a ton of dirt in with them- and Rover even kept sleeping on the table! Car ride- no problems- just an opportunity to sleep in air conditioning! Preparation goes a long way to prepare them- and their future owners- for stress free new experiences!

Those of our dogs who never met puppies before were hesitant- but they came around quickly!! And that seems to be ALL of them, not just ours! Another pair of Sila owners are breeding beautiful Goldens - and their girl Prima (a Regina daughter) takes to those pups like Penne did to ours!! What great aunties!

Our Sila puppies got exposed to something new today! After the initial hesitation- lasting all but a few seconds- they all went up to the red and yellow huge “monster”. It didn’t take them long to realize it had straps dangling- yay, something to chew on- and treats inside! After that they all took turns walking through the tunnel! These little guys are now 6 weeks old and doing just fantastic- both in regards to temperament, curiosity and general development!!
