Today sweet basil was ridden by her owners for the first time. She’s been in training for 3 weeks, has only been ridden by me, started as an unbroke, and today she was a perfect mount for her owners. Each of them rides differently, has a different level of experience, and a different feel. She figured each of them out and, with a bit of extra sass, handled it beautifully. She’ll be trail riding with them for graduation in two weeks.

Yesterday Sweet Basil helped lead a new rider on her first trail ride as an adult. Basil was wonderful, and gave me her first canter with a rider on the same day. She considered a buck, but easily shut it down, picked the canter back up, and gave me tons of beautiful canters throughout the rest of the ride. She also lead the way Accross a challenging stream with compound obstacles, and was soft transitioning out of canters and trots. She is so smart and willing, and moves beautifully. Here are Basil, Star, Stryker, David, and new rider (who did amazing and walk, trot, cantered her first day!) Casey.
