“Don’t bite my nose like a carrot, Mer!”… 🥰 🐾 😫 It was one of the first things I said when I held you as a puppy, you so lovingly and happily licked my nose while also excitedly biting the tip. You immediately went into my nephews hands, he was just a kid at the time, he’s now a 19 year old man. Seeing the way you bonded with him as we drove to the airport, so comfortably sleeping in our arms on the plane ride home from Los Angeles, I already knew it was the perfect fit for all of us with many adventures ahead.
Daughter of Karl Neubrand II and Oprah Anguinus, it was like having a baby Rottweiler celebrity in our presence. You quickly became an integral part of the family, barking as a way of refereeing the older dogs playing, taking up anywhere and everywhere for a good nap, snoring so loudly as you were always ready to rest, but when you played you went as hard as any dog I’ve seen. So strong, so noble, so powerful yet so loving, goofy, and fun. I could always count on you to flop down and roll around in the field, but only after playing for hours at a time with your ball. Your whine for food or family coming over was as comforting as it was silly.
When you were diagnosed with diabetes, I was really worried because I’ve never dealt with it before. But you made it so easy for me, taking your shots without a blink, making sure to finish all of your meals. I knew you were slowing down as time went by, but you were so full of life and such a fighter, it was difficult to visualize the end would be so swift. I know that you understand I gave you my all and I definitely know that you gave me yours. The tears may run down my face as I write this but I’m content knowing you’re happy and at peace. It’s a pain like no other, thankfully, I have the rest of the pack to guide me through until I see you again.
A huge thank you to the Bob and Suzie, Oliver and Yvonne, Tomaz and Anja for the relationship. I love you Mercedes-Benz, “don’t bite my nose like a carrot, Mer!”. 😭 🕊️ 🌈
