We are home safe but barely by the skin of our teeth. We left for a friends home and some of our kids stayed the night with my oldest son. The dogs are fine, a little concerned but fine. Ruby is due in a few weeks, and I wouldn’t leave her when I took the kids to my sons. My husband said he would take the remainder of our pets with him when he left a few hours after me. But we are home as of right now.

That could change, however. We are hearing that the wind is shifting this afternoon. What does that mean for our home? I have no idea. We are trying to decide if we need to leave again tonight just in case or not.

Our neighborhood, places we went to just yesterday-are gone. People’s homes everything they ever owned-gone. This fire was so fast and relentless and there was no precedent for it. I’ve lived here for almost 10 years in our very established neighborhood. There is no one that remembers or can recall or heard about a time like this because there has never been a time like this here.

Please remember my neighbors and friends and family tonight in your prayers and thoughts. If there is anyone that needs help, please let us know.
