I had an adventure! Yesterday, one of the humans went outside to water plants. The door was left open. I’ve never been a cat who runs outside, or really shows any interest in it at all, aside from looking out windows. I’m cautious and can be skittish about new situations. After watering the plants, the human came inside. The humans watched a show and started getting ready to make dinner. Then the primary human realized she hadn’t seen me in a bit. They started looking in all of my normal spots - not there. Eventually, even though she knew it was wild to consider, she opened the door to the outside. She saw a big set of eyes peering up from the bottom of our deck steps. I ran up the stairs and inside, and yelled at them for leaving me out there, in the place I’ve never shown any interest in! The human inspected me and I’m fine - this is a picture of me eating voraciously once I came inside. My white fur has no dirt or grass on it, so the humans suspect I didn’t stray off the deck. Still, it was very scary - it’s not uncommon to see hawks flying around or to hear a coyote at night. It was jarring to see me, the tiny, elderly, always indoors cat, sitting alone outside. The humans are so grateful that I’m okay, because the outcome could have been very different. The watering system will be changing dramatically! No more open doors (though they suspect that I will have no interest in another adventure anytime soon!) I am getting all of the salmon and pets today. Hug your kitties, and be careful about opening doors, even if they show no interest!
