🚨 Attention Nose Nerds! 🚨
Spokane Dog Training Club is sniffing out talent (literally) at our AKC Scent Work Trial this September 12–14 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Davenport, WA!
🎯 Three days of:
🕵️‍♀️ Detective drama
💩 Buried secrets
🧦 Handler Discrimination (aka "Whose laundry is this??")
🛋️ Interior sniffs
🌲 Exterior escapades

If your dog lives to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong (and yours only does that for food wrappers), this is their Super Bowl.

💥 Entry opens August 6 @ 7AM (PDT) – and no, you can't send your entry in early wrapped in bacon to bribe the secretary. We’ve tried. She’s immune.
🛑 Closes August 29 @ 7PM sharp – like a German Shepherd’s alert at 30 feet.
🐾 Limit: 375 entries/day + 32 detectives. If your dog’s nose has a resume, now’s the time.

💸 $25 per class, $40 for Detective (because uncovering conspiracies costs extra).
💼 Judges? Yes. Several. All with exceptional noses and excellent hats.
🏅 Titles, ribbons, and bragging rights are on the line.

Spectators? Maybe. Training on site? Nope. Drama? Probably.
Fun? ABSOLUTELY.

So grab your leash, your dog, and maybe a raincoat (just in case), and join us in September to find out:
Who’s a good sniffer?

Consider the Spokane Dog Training Club July Agility trial baked! Thank you to our judge Christian Eckhoff for bringing over some cooler western Washington weather 🌧️ for Saturday and the challenging courses! Sunday came along with our regularly scheduled summer weather but we were finished by about 4pm so no one roasted too much.

When I asked for volunteers to help set up at 10am on July 4th, you all said bet and showed up way early! 💪 By the time I arrived at 9:50am, the building was nearly cleared out and ready for crating and the ring already had most of the corners set, it was just about time to put up the fencing! You guys showed up and showed off.
Despite a little dust devil 🌪️ dropping in and destroying a canopy then making our chief course builder rebuild half the course the weekend was smooth sailing.

Volunteers were ready for nearly all the classes, exhibitors were at the gate chomping at the bit to run their dogs. 🐕 OK maybe their dogs were chomping at the bit while the handler waffled on whether or not to commit to the blind, go with the safe front cross option, or if their dog was going to be in sport mode and needed a rear cross on some of those complicated turns on these courses.

Thank you all for making this weekend wonderful. Congratulations to everyone who got some Q’s, got a title or two, and to the person who earned a PACH on Sunday.

We hope to see everyone and more next year for a July 4th & 5th 2026 agility trial. Our judge will be the fantastic Torka Poet!

🎆 Got plans for the 4th of July weekend? Cancel them (unless they involve dogs and jumping over stuff). 🐶💨

The Spokane Dog Training Club is hosting an Agility Trial on July 5th & 6th, and it’s gonna be hotter than a Labrador in a snowsuit—except not really, because we’ve got air conditioning for crating. ❄️🐾

📍 Where: Spokane Dog Training Club Building
🧑‍⚖️ Who’s Judging You (but in a good way): Christian Eckhoff
⚡️ New This Year: We’re offering FAST and Time to Beat BOTH DAYS. That’s right — more chances to run fast and beat the clock while pretending you had a plan.
🧊 Creature Comforts: Your dog stays cool while they plot how to creatively misinterpret your handling.

🐕 Whether you’ve got a Border Collie who’s already planning your strategy (because clearly, they’re the real mastermind), a Corgi who’s too busy barking at you and sassing you about every move you make (because clearly, they would do it better), a Springer Spaniel whose ears are just catching all the wind while they zoom through the obstacles, an Alaskan Klee Kai who’s already re-designing the course and could totally judge it better than Christian, a Portuguese Water Dog who’s just there to swim through every obstacle, a Vizsla who looks like they pre-gamed with six espressos and a lightning bolt, or a Shiba Inu who’s giving you a side-eye at the start line that says, “I’ll run when I feel like it” — there’s a class (and a laugh) for everyone.

And for all the new handlers and dogs out there, this is the perfect trial to get your paws wet! It’s smaller, so the atmosphere is relaxed, and you can enjoy the run without feeling overwhelmed.

📄 Premium: [https://www.spokanedtc.org/documents/SDTC_July_2025_Agility_Premium.pdf](https://www.spokanedtc.org/documents/SDTC_July_2025_Agility_Premium.pdf)
💻 Online entries available at: [www.r2agility.com](http://www.r2agility.com) — Because printing things is so 2012.

Come run, bark, cheer, and maybe trip over a tunnel or two. We won’t judge — well, Christian will, but that’s literally his job.

Tag your agility crew and let’s make this trial as wild as a Miniature American Shepherd who found a squeaky toy and a full treat jar. 🐾💥

A massive a-paws to our amazing trial chair team, Karen & Lindsay, our supremely organized secretary, Barb, (you deserve a MACH in paperwork agility), all the volunteers who jumped in faster than a Border Collie after a tennis ball, and of course, our fantastic judge Karen Wlodarski—you made this whole weekend pawsitively perfect!

Friday and Saturday gave us sunshine and blue skies—clearly custom-ordered. But someone must’ve mis-clicked on Amazon and accidentally ordered the “Soak Your Sunday” weather package. If you find out who, we’ve got a few wet socks to return.

The courses were a blast! The weave poles were twistier than a Labrador trying to sneak past a baby gate—and yes, we saw some dogs get creative with their interpretation of “weave.” But hey, agility is about enthusiasm and style, right?

All the dogs had the time of their lives—zoomies were achieved, treats were earned, and tails were wagging at max speed. Huge congratulations to everyone who nailed those qualifying runs! And if you didn’t Q, your dog still thinks you’re the best two-legged treat dispenser in the world.

Thanks again to everyone who helped pull off this pawsome weekend—we’re already looking forward to the next one (and maybe someone can double-check the weather order next time)!
