Yes sir. I have been to the Spotlight Theater to see The Drunkard and The Olio and I am here to tell y'all that it's a great show. Them critters have been doin' that show for over 70 years now....and doin' it every Saturday night. It truly is Tulsa's most entertaining evening. Did ya know that it's audience participation? Yes sir. You can boo and hiss that ugly ol' villain and then cheer and applaud the hero. And if you ever want to really get into it, you can even get tomaters to throw at that ol' villain. Them folks down there have been workin' real hard to put on a good show just for you. And those Olio Acts...let me tell you, thar is some great local talent with a lot of whoopin and hollerin goin on. You'll be tappin your feet to that great music. And they even have a sing-a-long with the cutest little piano player just a ticklin those ivories like you wouldn't believe. Why y'all be singin some of those old time songs that you haven't heard....well in a long time. Some facts you may not know. The Tulsa Spotlight CLUB was actually formed in spring of 1952. It's mission was to promote the arts in the Tulsa area. The play "The Drunkard" was adapted from another play "Ten Nights in a Bar Room" to be performed as a fundraiser for the club in November 1953. The performance was such a success that it has continued to be performed on our stage (the very same stage) every Saturday night for over 70 years. We continue in our mission to provide a stage every Saturday night for local area talent with our Olio presentation immediately before our record breaking performance of "The Drunkard". We would like to invite you to come see this weeks entertainment line up featuring Sweet Adeline's, Millie & Maude and Oklahoma Performing Arts. Followed immediately by our performance of "The Drunkard", an audience interactive production where you boo & hiss the villain, cheer & applaud the Hero, Throw tomatoes at the Villain and just have a whooping good time. Holy spotlight, Batman...Did you see the lineup for this week's Olio at the Spotlight Theater? Steve Spracklin is going to be there playing some Ragtime music, and that new kid, Drake Shackleford is going to be singing some Barry Manilow and Frank Sinatra songs along with Cooper Cornelius who will be singing some great country songs. And let's not forget Bill "Ragtime Bill" Roland will be on the piano playing many old time favorites for our sing-a-long. All of this just before our presentation of "The Drunkard" making this truly one of "Tulsa most entertaining evenings".
