All right, here’s a fun one!

🎬 Pet Name Game

Describe your pet using a movie title.

Video is of Harley, just a baby dog with his post grooming zoomies! He just can’t seem to get his feet to cooperate on the slippery floor!

This week’s Spa Day Spotlight is Bella and Boone as well as Dijon Mustard!

All three were just great sports about their baths, blow outs (and boy was there a lot to blow out!), sanitary trims and nails.

Spa Day Spotlight will be when we highlight a few dogs from the week.

Something to be aware of. Ticks are BAD this year!

Veterinarians are warning cat owners about the growing threat of “Bobcat Fever,” a deadly tick-borne disease now being reported in domestic cats as warmer weather arrives. Find out the warning signs, how fast the illness can spread, and the steps vets say could save your pet’s life at the link in the comments.

🐾 Tired of finding cat hair everywhere?

Let’s be honest, it’s annoying to constantly be using hair removal rollers on yourself, the couch, bed, etc

Shedding is totally normal, but excessive shedding can often be managed with a few simple habits. This also helps keep a soft coat.

✨ Regular brushing
Even short-haired cats benefit from brushing! This helps remove loose fur before it ends up on your furniture (or in hairballs). Different coats need different tools. I like a comb for my long haired cat, but a slicker (short bristles) is my favorite for the short hair cats.

💧 Proper hydration
Cats that don’t get enough moisture can have drier skin, which can lead to more shedding. This is where feeding soft food is so helpful.

🥩 A balanced, quality diet
Healthy skin and coat start from within, look for foods rich in omega fatty acids to support coat health. In my cat nutrition classes I was taught soft food is always better than kibble. I have seen first hand time and time again how much coat health has improved once on soft food. This really is a topic I could speak about extensively but I’ll not go off topic.

🛁 Routine grooming
Professional grooming can help remove built-up undercoat and keep your cat feeling comfortable. Ideally blowing out a coat because it removes so much more but some cats cannot handle it, it’s too stressful. Other cats are okay with it.

🏡 Reduce stress
Stress can sometimes increase shedding in cats, keeping a calm, enriched environment can make a difference.

While some shedding is normal, excessive shedding, thinning fur, or skin issues can be a sign of something more—so it’s always good to keep an eye on changes.

A little maintenance goes a long way in keeping your cat’s coat soft, healthy, and (a little less) everywhere 🐱✨

Mats aren’t always easy to see.
They can hide deep under the top layer of fur—especially in thicker or curly coats like doodles.

And it’s not just “long-haired” pets.
Almost every coat type can develop mats without proper care.

A quick brush over the surface isn’t enough.
To truly prevent matting, you need to brush and comb all the way down to the skin.

⚠️ Mats don’t grow out—they only get tighter over time.

Why does this matter?

Matting can:
• Pull and pinch the skin
• Cause sores, irritation, and rashes
• Trap moisture, dirt, and debris
• Hide things like stickers, grass seeds, or burrs that can poke and hurt your pet

Left too long, mats can become painful and even lead to skin infections.

Cats need extra attention too 🐱
Some cats are more prone to matting because they can’t groom as well, including:
• Senior cats
• Overweight cats
• Cats with mouth pain or infections
• Long-haired cats with thick fur around the neck that limits their reach

✨ Regular brushing = a healthier, happier pet
✨ When in doubt, ask your groomer for tips or a demo!
