A high protein percentage on a pet food label does not guarantee your dog or cat is actually getting the nutrients they need. Bioavailability is what determines if their body can absorb and use those ingredients effectively.

Choosing high quality animal proteins over plant fillers ensures your companion maintains a shiny coat and strong muscles. Look past the simple numbers on the bag to find ingredients that truly nourish their unique system. Learn more at blog. 🐾 🥣

Why "High Protein" isn't always the answer.

Most of us look for the highest protein number on the bag, but did you know there is no legal limit on how much protein a food can have? 🥩

While protein is vital, the "Protein Paradox" means that for seniors or pets with kidney issues, too much can actually be hard on their bodies. Some of the most effective prescription diets have to skip the "Complete and Balanced" label just to keep protein levels safe for a pet’s kidneys.

Labels give you the basics, but they don't know your pet’s health history. Book a house call vet today for personalized nutritional guidance. Our vets help you look past the labels to find exactly what your pet needs to thrive. 🩺 🐾

Hi friends, my name is Chuy, and lately I wasn’t feeling very good. I was uncomfortable, sore, and not acting like my usual happy terrier self. Thankfully, I was seen by Dr. Stephany, who discovered I had an a**l gland infection.

With antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine, and lots of loving care, I’m now feeling so much better and back to wagging my tail again!

I’m very thankful to the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation for helping pets like me get the medical care we need when we’re hurting. Because of their support — and donations from caring animal lovers like you — Petopia can continue helping pets feel better and stay with the families who love them.

If you’d like to help more pets like me get treatment and second chances, please consider making a donation to Petopia.
